| I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a proper solenoid for my 318...it needs to have the 2 terminals,"S" and "I" the latter to deliver 12 volts to the coil on start up. I have one that's not working to go by, but haven't a clue what it's off of other than it's got ford stamped on it. I went to the newer late 70's electronic ignition. I can't use one from the newer Dodge products since they went with a solenoid on the starter. Did any 50's Chrysler models use this type of solenoid, or what year/model of Ford is this one from? |

Location: Big pimpin' | Sounds like you got a common Ford solenoid...You can check any year Ford up into the late eighties Ford trucks, some cars....
Mounts on the fenderwell, and has two studs one with the "S" and one with the "I"....
Acually counting the two BIG studs there are four........
One side("S"), is used from the switch to start car the other("I"), is used after it's running, like you said sending 12 Volts to the coil..........

| I finally found one - in case anyone else has this problem (partsmen like to have an actual application) 1985 Ford F-150 with a 351 Windsor is the correct one. I've learned not all models used it...just by coincidence, all the junk cars and trucks I have don't use it - this is what stumped me. |
