I agree..... I seen this done about a year and a half ago to an ultra rare 1960 New Yorker 2 door hardtop. I even emailed the seller to tell him of it's rarity, and that parting it would be a real bad idea... When he replied, he hadn't the slightest idea of its rarity, nor did he care... He told me that the reason for him parting it out was to obtain the highest return on his dollar invested. Also, he had other cars coming and needed the room. I asked him if he would sell the whole car (because, I knew of someone that would buy it). He said no. I emailed him no further....

Shoulda gave him a number, and pointed out a fast say $2500 gets rid of the car for a lot less work than parting it out and makes him a lot of money a lot faster. Truth is, he did sell the whole car eventually, probably for about $200, for scrap - unless he went so far as to cut out solid body panel sections.

We get people asking for parts all the time and unless I get it already loose, I won't even waste my time - it may be more money in the long haul, but it's a lot more work and I have to keep the cars 75 miles away from me, so it's $40 in gas every time I need to go get parts. It's just not worth the time trouble and expense.
