There has been a large forest fire burning in the Sierras about 100 miles north of here, and the smoke in the air made for an interesting sunset. ---John

Reminds me of some of our Red Sunsets here in AZ.  I also love that Olds 2dr HT.

I imagine the firefighters would disagree.

John, what in the world will you do with a 1930 Franklin? I tried to buy a '28/29 Willis-Knight several years ago, when I was young, dumb and stupid. But when I got there with the trailer to load it up, I found that I had failed to bring my chainsaw and my chickensxxx remover. The old lady had sold the tires in WWII (without taking them off the wheels). And an 8" tree had grown up behind the front bumper, She had used it for a chicken coop. Needless to say, the trailer went home empty. Then there was the '25 dodge sedan I did pay for in a salvage yard at Pitcher,OK. Borrowed the in-laws '51 Cheebie p/u to haul it home, and threw a rod before I got out of town. Never did get to Pitcher after that. And could not get the man to give me my $50.00 back. Then there was the '31 Fxxx 5 window coupe with the "B" model engine that came home flat-towed behind the 56 Buick. 'Nother storey.

Is that your yard over which the red sunset appears?

I received the gas tank today, and thanks. It looks a whole lot more healthy than the peice of swiss cheese I had. I'll get it boiled, and then wash it out with the stuff Eastwood sells and coat the intereior with their epoxy mix. Got the body off the frame Sat. It's on the rotissery ready for the traveling media blaster. I can't find the post in which you told me what rear axle assemblies would fit in my '55 Dodge, in order to eliminate having to mess with the '55's tapered axles. I think it was '68 and up, but I don't recall how late I could go. Would you be kind enought to refresh an old man's memory. Thanks, Walt.

Franklins have a HUGE cult following. Look up the AACA and post it for sale there. You won't have it long!

Yup. I'd call that a mighty satisfying sunset. Just the place to set out on a lawn chair and down a few Dos Equis cervezas. You have some very tasty looking stock. I can make out a 1958 Edsel, a 1959 Edsel, a 1958 Mercury with the optional continental tire carrier on the top, etc.

Pretty heavy into the FoMoCo brand eh?

You need to join the H.H. Franklin Club. It is in Casnovia, NY. I have a 31. They tend to drive them, not stand around a hot parking lot and look at them.

The Franklin was stored outside for many years, therefore the wooden framing is quite rotten. Surprisingly, the steel and aluminum parts are in relatively good condition with the exeption of the grill, that was missing. I was going to tinker with the engine to see if i could get 'er running, it is kind of fun working on some of these pre-war unusual cars.

Walt, glad to hear that the tank arrived safely.

The pictures were taken near an area where I keep mostly complete project cars I have for sale.
Meanwhile, the fire up in the hills has nearly doubled in size, hopefully the fire crews can get some help from the cooler weather, and get it contained.

I started out in this business selling '50's Mercury parts about 1983 as a sideline to my repair business, hence the name Big M. I've always had a preference for any of the finned cars that Ford, Mopar, and GM produced at the tail end of the '50's. I do not stock cars that there are large numbers of repop parts available, as it is nearly impossible to sell the original parts for them nowadays.
