Regular Posts: 51 | I have a 56 four door that I am going to do something with, maybe make a Belamino. I am from the 50's and been cutting up perfectly good four doors for years so please don't flame me for that. This car is a rusty, dented Iowa product so anything will be an improvement. The deal is I like the front end and the rear end but not the middle. I need to do somethig so any ideas are very welcome. Here is a photoshoped image of some of my ideas. Inactive by user's request Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | Welcome aboard, Paul! Four door, two door, it's you're ride and you don't have to justify anything you do! I prefer the roof line in the upper image. I find it refreshing and keeping with the Forward Look style. I have a '59 El Camino and while its roof line was based on Chevrolet's four door hardtop roof line, it was unique. (I have a '59 Impala four door hardtop, too! ) Why not post this as a poll and see the responses you receive? K. P.S.- You may want to get emblems from a mid '50s Mopar Australian Ute rather than call it a Belvamino. | ||

Welcome to the site! I love the first pic...it's wierd, I just finished a drawing of what a 57 would look like, as I've toyed with this idea as well. I say do it, it looks awesome! Sorry I stretched out this thread, I couldn't figure out how to get it any smaller. Regular Posts: 51 | I am from Cedar Rapids Iowa, to answer the gentelman from Iowa inquiry. Wow, I did not know about the UTE or the Wayfairer, very cool!! I am not sure this is the direction I will take but it is fun to speculate and now I found this great forum where I am learning a ton of thngs such as the UTE. Expert Posts: 1357 Location: Iowa USA | I always liked the idea of stubbies! Take about 18-24 inches out of the middle making it a 2/3 seater. Probably easier with a 4 door hardtop. You could also take off the entire roof and use the top assembly and windshield with cowl from a donor car like a Chrysler sebring that has been wrecked. by mounting the cowl low the wipers are hidden below the hood line and it also acts to chop the top some while making it an all weather car. Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | FWIW, I posted, several years ago, that one of the two AZ wrecking yards (pretty sure that it's Desert Valley) has that EXACT-SAME 56 PLY "el camino" wagon, in essentially perfect/complete bodywork! All the other-stuff has been removed from it, but a 4-dr sedan parts car would be all that would be needed to restore this 'wagon'. The car has badly faded "Carnation Dairy" paintwork on its doors. | ||

I think the open wheel looks lighter and more casual. The lack of a roof makes the quarter panels look long as it is. | ||

Regular Posts: 51 | This one is rough, there is rust holes in the trunk and floor and the rockers are gone. Every side panel has a dent or two. It has a ton of bondo in it. I still on the fence about using the saw and might just go for a fake carson top and weld the rear doors shut. | ||
