Veteran Posts: 233 Location: Oxnard/Ventura, California | Well, it has been two years (and some change) since I sold the big black Coronet. Well as you read, I am back! I needed a truck for work, and this thing showed up! I mean, it isn't really forwardlook, but its a 1955 dodge, so I guess it works here... So this truck was an old Phone Company truck, living in Arizona its whole life (the only rust is a small hole on the removable tranny hump!). It has a 318/904 powertrain, power brakes, and a funky old sheetmetal bed. My plans are to throw on a Dakota bed, Magnum 500 wheels, paint it flat black, put a control wheel off a boeing 737 and lower it. I AM NOT PUTTING FRONT DISCS ON IT! Enjoy! KFD

Expert Posts: 2338 Location: central oklahoma! | welcome back! why change the bed? the one that's on it looks cool. as to the brakes, you've been cruising around california for as long as i can remember without them, so i don't know why this one should be any different. this truck has a very cool "cachet". i say go with it, instead of re-inventing it. of course, as always, it is your car to do with as you please. i can only suggest. whatever you decide, congratulations! and again, welcome back!

It is there to keep the bedsides on! I agree that it is a cool looking bed, but it is small and flimsy, and from a utility point a view, the Dakota bed works for me! Later KFD

Later KFD Hey Kelly... welcome back!!!!! That is definitely a cool ride you have. My suggestion is that if you do the Dakota bed, then at least keep the old one if you have the chance, and maybe eventually you can repair it and put it back on..... Might also want to check the local pick and pulls, and see if you can find better seats. Those look like you are sitting on the springs!

Veteran Posts: 233 Location: Oxnard/Ventura, California | Hey thanks guys! That isn't the original bed, so I am not really worried about keeping it. As far as the seat goes, it is wasted and is on the "to replace" list. Its out of a Nova anyway! I am thinking a '70s split back bench will be kinda cool. With this truck, it is mostly a work machine, and I am on a real shoestring budget now, as I am not living at grandma's anymore, either...I will keep you guys posted. I just got my tools back last night, so the real fun will begin soon! Later KFD

Veteran Posts: 233 Location: Oxnard/Ventura, California | The LA is modern, but remember, this is a work truck. I need something reliable, and considering I have a garageless condo, the 318 is staying in for now... Later KFD
