Some where in here, just lately, one of the members posted some picture
of his '58 Dodge, concerning the new tires that he had installed. I think
it was a blue four doors, but I'm not sure of that color.
I have searched all of the posts and can't find the pictures now. I would like to
get a little more info on tire size, etc. , but I can't find the pictures so Obviously
I can't get his name or e-mmail address.
Does anyone know where these pictures are located ???

Location: Lemoore CA | You know, I ought to just post the tire size here in case someone else can benefit from the information. For a 57-59 Dodge 2 and four door car, I believe the recomended bias ply, which is what I put on my car, tire size is 800-14, you can also use the 850-14 but I think those are mostly for wagons. The recomended radial size is 215/75 r 14 Hope this helps. |

Sorry, I thought it was a '58 instead it's a '57, oh well
I did remember it was a Dodge. Also thanks for the
tire size info.
NOW, can someone tell me where to go to find out the
diameter for each different tire size. I want to go back to
14 inch wheels and I would like to find a tire that is about
the same diameter as the ones I have on the car now.
I hesitate to go back to bias ply tires, my radials ride and
handle so good, and I like the look. I know someone is going
to ask me what size I have on the car now, and without driving
37 miles up to where the car is I don't know. ( loss of memory
functions with age ).

Location: Lemoore CA | OK, The overall diameter for the 800-14's is 27.58" for 850-14 is 28.10" and for the radial 215-75-14 is 27.11" without knowing your exact tire size it is imposible to find out what the overall diameter is. |

I finally remember to write down the tire sizes on my
Coronet. Could you look on your tire chart and see if
there is a 14 inch tire that is close to the same diameter
as the 15 inch tires I have on now?
Front = P215/65R15
Rear = P235/60R15
I'd like to stay with a radial tire, if possible, because I really
like how the car rides and handles now. Would there be a 14
inch tire that is close to the width and diameter of the tires I
have on the car now? I want to go back to 14 inch wheels fo
I can get whitewalls and a set of spinner wheel covers. I simply
can't find any spinner wheel covers in 15 inch.

If you go back to 14,s , You need to raise the Profile Size of the Tyre So you do Not alter the Gearing, I run 215 / 75 / 14 which will be the same as your 215/65/15..

Location: Lemoore CA | I couldn't find a match for 215 65 r 15 the closest I got was 215 70 r15 which has an overall diameter of 25.90" the 235 60 r15 has an overall diameter of 26.1" |

the 70 tire. I may have to take it off and just physically measure it
or maybe the tire store up the street can look in one of their books.
It sounds like both of the tire sizes you used in a 14 inch would be
taller than the tires I have on now. Which is ok for what I am looking for.

My next project is to figure out how to get those darn factory wheel covers
to stay on without beating them up with a rubber hammer. I've had those thing
frustrate me so bad I threw one across the garage. All I did was chase the edge
around the wheel. I'd tap on one spot and the other side would pop off.

Location: Lemoore CA | Well, if they pop off after they are seated, ie while driving the car, I have heard you can use a bead of clear silicone in stratigic places to keep them firm. I have also heard of people using adhesive backed velcro strips. As for them not going on right, posibly some of the clips need to be adjusted by bending them with pliers to fit right? |

Location: bishop, ca | What I've done is take a pair of pliers, and gently/slightly pull out the hubcap's serrated mating tabs/ears/whatever, to increase their contact/grip with the wheel rim.
This simple procedure works, to keep a hubcap attached to the rim.

The Tyre is A GOODYEAR ARRIVA,, They were New when i Got the CAR from Billings Montana 3 1/2 Years Ago,, No side wall cracks, So i reckon they are a Great Tyre. I have seen the Firestone sidewall crack after only a few Months on the Whitewall..
I think the Whitewall is 1 1/2 Inch, Although it appears to be 2".. |
