Altho I don't think that the shop swapped the front wheels, I'll swap em, this weekend, & see how he 'pulls' , then!

I had 2 new front brake lines be replaced, as I had hoped that one might be defective, internally, & causing the car to pull to the right, upon initial brake application.

Well, NOW, it pulls the same amount, but to the LEFT side!---

Did the Shop Pull the Front Drums, Rough the Shoes up some, And Re-Adjust the Brake Shoes Evenly,, Or just Fit the New Hoses and Bleed the Brakes ???

Or do you have the Disc Brake Conversion on Yours ?????????

Neil, after you do some more driving, let us know what the difference in mileage is. Just a bit curious as to how much of an improvement it will be. ---John

Well, I CAN say that the overall DRIVEABILITY is improved, as there is actually better throttle response, in that your
foot goes deeper into the accelerator pedal, and gets into a sweet-spot, as far as modulating the car's speed is concerned,
instead of just "toe-ing" the accelerator pedal.

It doesn't leap forward, from a stop, but, it still will creep, at idle, if the brake pedal is released.
The car runs smoother and quieter--you can really hear the radio, now.

It accelerates ok, but its street racing days (at least, from the 'dig') are over;-----now,... if we're talking TOP-end runs....

I should drive it to Mammoth, this fall; that's the best way to get a real MPG idea; a 90+ mile trip, up from 4k'
to about 8k+' and back---poorer mpg than flat-lander cruising, for sure.

OH, BTW, I gotta go figure out the speedo/odo error, as the car "seems" to be travelling slower than actual speed!!!

I forget where I had a speedo-correction gizmo be made, back when I was experimenting with a 3.55:1 rear end.

Clive, AFAIK, the shop "just" replaced the front hoses and bled/adjusted the system!!!!

The wheel/tire swap should prove interesting, manana!

Clive, why doncha crawl under your (Duke-ster?) Windsor & check out the rear end ratio he's running--there's a flat-area,
on the passenger's side of the carrier housing; you may have to wipe/brush it to be able to read the lightly-stamped
numbers on it----I'm thinking that it might be a 2.93 or a 2.76 !

If does sound like Brake Balance still, Especially if it drives Straight whilst Cruising... My Old 58 Dodge Texan used to Pull REAL Hard to the Left, Literally pull the Wheel out of your Hands when Braking, But after i Cleaned and Roughed the Shoes and Adjusted the front Brakes Evenly , It braked Perfectly Straight without Replacing Anything...

The Windsor Pulled very Slightly when braking on the way home from the Docks Also,, I have heard many people mention this after the Car has Stood Idle for a While... So will be cleaning the Brakes and Adjusting them this Weekend..

SCUFFING the 'shoes' huh?

How is that done? I'm ready to try anything---you might be on to something, there; before I installed the Firm Feel company's
Carbon Metallic brake shoes (which DO provide better braking, than the OEM shoes) the car always stopped in a straight line.

Post Carbon-metallics, it does seem that the "pulling" started.

Straight-line stopping is not any big deal , but I recall, on the way back from Tulsa, I was on a freeway curved onramp, and had to
apply the brakes, whilst rounding a bend; THAT was interesting! Braking and turning, with the car fighting you, for control.

Clive; your 15" wheels should under-register your car's speed & odometer.

I Use 60 Grit Emery or Sand Paper.. I Scuff the Shoes all over Until all the Glaze of the Shoe has Gone, I also Scuff the Inside of the drum,,, I find Shoes Glaze up quicker mostly due to Light Braking in Town..

RE..... Clive; your 15" wheels should under-register your car's speed & odometer.

Yes , I found it did Under register the Speed whilst Cruising Route 66 with other Members, i think it is about 5 mph out cruising about 65, I done nearly 1700 mile in the USA , so you can probably add about another 125 to that..

Yeah, heheheheheh; nah, my (car's) deck is still LIMP.

My shop fusts-ed around with it, the car, last week (and didn't even pull a spark plug, so I could check on its brand
and electrode-length) so, I failed to try to have the fust-around with its deck!

BTW, as I have an ebay-car's pic, with the deck-erect, AND with a length of hose wrapped around the T/bars, right at its torsion bars'
center support/hanger/connector area, I may try again to see if a rubber (hose) will increase its erectile efficiency.

Did YOU examine your car's rear end, this week end?

Yeah, Horrie must LIKE you (hmmmmmmm...?) cause he sure got his deck lid up, when you (& I ) sat in the trunk
(that was before Ron Mog got all-jealous, & lowered the deck lid onto my head!)
