1957 plymouth belvedere torqueflite transmission shifts really fast. is there any adjustment, to stretch out the shift. any help would be appriciated.

Well, yes and no....The upshifts are controlled by a few varying factors...One would be the govenor...

As govenor pressure overrides Throttle pressure, the upshift occurs....

Things such as line pressure, govenor weights, throttle valve pressure, and a few others all act to control this...

I would check the linkage that goes from the carb to the tranny, as you step harder on the gas pedal, the shift is delayed(Shifts at a higher rpm) if this linkage has fallen off, or improperly adjusted the tranny will shift booom boom at very low speed. Also if the linkage is correct, when you floor the gas pedal, the tranny should downshift(Passing gear)
