I'm sure this has been asked but how do I tell whether I have the "Early 1959" or "Late 1959" rear brakes? There are aparrently 2 different part numbers, found that part of my brake problem is that i have a grabby shoe, must have some brake fluid in it. Thanks in advance

Thank you very much for that link. well that explains matters, The shoes I have appear to be the early style and the brakes the later style, have to check the backing plate to make sure, freakin' idjits. suprised this guy that had the car before me never managed to kill his wife with the brakes in this car, mismatched parts, wrong parts, now i need a lead for NOS brake shoes, I suppose E-bay

Kanter Bros has the shoes or a local reliner can do them for you.

When I bought the Savoy for my daughter the seller handed me a set of rusty, crusty brake shoes as though they were solid gold. He said, "Ain't many of these left in the free world - you'll have to get 'em re-lined next time ya need brakes."

I thought parts for my Fairlane were hard to find - SHEESH!!!

The little teeny bopper clerks at O'reilly's get the deer-in-the-headlight looks on their face when ya say, "S-A-V-O-Y".

around here when you say '59 all the little kids at the parts store stare at you, can't tell you how many times i've had to reach over the counter and grab the BOOK from the rack and figure out myself what I need and then give them the P/N to type in to their complicator. Last time I was in one of the big chain stores and asked for parts for a plymouth fury the first thing the kid said was "They dont make that anymore, do they?" Then again I'ts not all their fault, 2 working parents growing up, living in a video game world, when I was a kid I knew how to tell casting dates on car parts before I knew what a computer was. Scary thing is I'm only in my 30's and already feeling the huge generation gap

Oh bubba! I hear ya! I'm only thirty-seven but I drive a '68 Dodge crew cab (thirty-nine years old), a '64 Fairlane (forty-four years old - it was built 24 Oct 1963) and, of course the girl's nearly forty-seven year old Savoy (built December 1960) so the Autozone Strydex Club for Young Men hate to see me coming !

Let me give ya a secret weapon!!! You may have to cut and paste the link below but sometimes it comes in handy!!!
