It's a cool looking car, indeed... But at $5M, it seems the seller may be smoking crack. Also, PLEASE don't take this the wrong way Doug... but shouldn't this thread be down in the NetherWorld? (As it's not related to any ForwardLook issue?) I just remember a couple of weeks back when you got pretty fumed about off-topic threads that were posted up here... forwardlookparts - 2009-02-17 12:43 AM
...I need to vent!

This site is getting really fvcking polluted with non-FL sh!t and its driving me nuts. I am not going to name names, but is this or is it not a Forward Look site? Am I being to hard on the members that just dont get it? Was that a real post... or were you just stirrin' the pot in fun? Again, I'm not trying to be a d!ck... but... -NM

Expert Posts: 2721 Location: Minneapolis | Nathan-- you are correct and I did think about that before posting, move it if this doesnt have room next to the other non-FL stuff up here. My complaint was more about members who chose this category for their rants, pms to other members, links to non-related blogs and other threads that were on a more personal level. Vintage car stuff yes, but lets place the narcissism where it belongs; down below.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Am I missing something, or is this car's convertible provenance all hearsay evidence? Any factory documentation for this project's development? Any information on this car's prior-history?

Expert Posts: 2721 Location: Minneapolis | Neil, I cant find the thread, it may not have been on this site. Thought it was.... Anyway, just punch 'tucker' and anything like 'convertible', something like that, into your search engine. Plenty of info. This car was never built. Its a parts car that was fabricated during the fifties. This guy has a LOT of balls with his claims and especially his price. What a nut job.

Location: Parts Unknown | Ferd Farkle owned this car from 1947 to 1968. Extensive research done since has shown a clear path of provenance that Ferd knew a guy who had a dog that was one of a litter of eight. A buyer of another of the eight puppies rented a house for the aunt's second cousin of a man that drove a bus along the route once walked by Martin Luther King during the civil rights marches, thereby providing a second provenance, and what kind of nut is going to deny the holocaust, anyway ? What more needs to be said ?

Expert Posts: 1357 Location: Iowa USA | they were just another used car back in the day. Berkeley CA 1954 My grandfather insisted that he never made any cars and that he just ripped people off by taking orders and running with the money. Good old stubburn gramps would not believe it if he saw one in person. I know they made them but I am not buying the convertible story. I actually met a Studebaker dealer from Nebraska years ago that was at the sale when they sold everything off. He had sold his Tucker years before but he still had some of the NOS parts lying around that he had bought at the sale. At one point he even had a NOS engine.

Expert Posts: 2932 Location: Lemoore CA | roadkillontheweb - 2009-03-03 6:23 PM According to an article I read a while back in I believe Hemmings classic car, N.O.S. engines are not really a rarity in the tucker collector circle. Now having said that, that circle is not exactly large, but according to the article, most who own a tucker have at least one spare engine, and if you are able to obtain a tucker, getting a spare engine is not as hard as you would think.they were just another used car back in the day. Elite Veteran Posts: 990 | As I recall, this person assembled the convertible from left-over parts and fabricated what was missing. Yes, it's a fake, a fabrication.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 398 Location: Watertown South Dakota | I met an old fella years ago with an interesting story. He had returned from the military in Korea in the early 50s and was stationed in Ca. He bought a Tucker at a car lot for $300. There was a 30 day return policy if you weren't satisfied. His friends teased him so much about the odd looking car that he returned within 30 days and traded it even up for a 50 Ford....
