Location: Colorado Springs, CO | I want to take the parking light housings out of my '62 so I can derustify the inner panel area below the headlights. I have looked through my manual and can't find any instructions on removing them. I got up under the fender with a flashlight and thought I saw a hex head but upon closer inspection it wasn't. There is still about 90%+ of the undercoating in the wheel well area on both sides, including the back of the parking light housings, so that isn't helping either.
Can a '61 Chrysler or DeSoto owner on the board please share your FL wisdom so I may improve my MoPar kung-fu? |

Location: Colorado Springs, CO | Yep. No screw or bolt heads under the lens. There are two bumps near the screw holes which make me think that something screws in from the back. |

Location: Colorado Springs, CO | Well I found the attachment mechanisms. 2 trim nuts under a lot of undercoating. So I removed them and now for the bad news -- I have to remove the bumper to get the housings out. I have not done near enough curls to do this by muscle alone, so please relay to me your best techniques or success stories on how you got a stubborn bumper separated from your car's brackets.

I have taken my park light housings off my '62 300 to get them rechromed, and didn't have to remove the bumper. They just plain slid over the top.

Location: Ripon, WI | If you really want to remove your bumper easily... a shot of PB blaster on the bolts... twice a day for a week... I had 3 bolts on my 54 dodge truck that I couldn't get off..... and I am a big ass sum beech... Well, gave them a shot of PB blaster just once... 5 days later, went to try again and about knocked myself on the ground they broke loose so easy. |

The bottom section of the housing sticks down too far for me to slip it out over the top of the bumper. I'll see if knocking some more undercoating off the back helps with the wiggle room, but it really appears to be blocked up front.
