I had a complaint through the WPC Club regarding late orders etc. from George Laurie so I emailed him and got this reply and asked him if I could post it here.

Hello Ian, thanks for passing this along to me, I have email the guy to let him know what is happening. Unfortunatly I have had the most unbeliveable run of bad luck over here, the biggest problem has been the run of everlasting bad weather, it just rained and rained and rained for months, floods everwhere etc etc, I must have warm dry air to apply the Gold etc on my Emblems, same deal with any Lenses that require Chrome, so I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO behind on all my orders! ad to that my Power Generator keeps letting my down,  I just went anouther 2 weeks without power while I got a new Alternator for it ( 25 KVA 3 phase )  had the same thing when I had to replace the engine, so this is the 4 th time I have lost weeks of working time.
My computer up and died, got a new one, it died, got it fixed, then 2 weeks with no phone so i could not send any emails ( they did me a rush job fixing it they said ) I still have not been able to sort out the 2,000 emails i have all over the place, so basicly it seems that everyone and his dog thinks I am a total looser that never contacts them and never sends there parts, but of course as always if they are willing to wait they will all recive Beautiful parts and I will email them as I find time away from the shed to sort out emails, regards George.

A PIECE OF ADVICE, MOVE OUT SOMEWHERE ELSE, YOU CAN MAKE MONEY IF YOU KEEP YOUR COSTUMERS SATISFIED, THE DEMAND MAY BE NOT THAT HIGH BUT THE WAY THAT YOU ARE DOING IT, DEFINITLY DOES NOT HELP. I DONT KNOW WHO WILL ORDER SOMETHING WITH ALL THIS PROBLEMS. I AM JUST WONDER IF THE PEOPLE PAID IN ADVANCE?, THIS DEALS ARE NOT HELPING THE HOBBIE.
I thought that Australia is mainly a desert.

I just don’t understand?, why paid him? In advance?.. Txs god I managed to buy all my lenses NOS. When his account on ebay, was cancelled i knew that ill never deal with him, Paypal did the same.
I think that Gary Goers, had those scripts, and he is the best and an honest man, go with him and forget this Australian crook.

I recently received a full set of lenses from George (taillights, dome lights, and parking lamps). It took 6 months, but the price was fair and the quality was excellent.

 FYI

Just got my V's from George, they are great for a repro. I still may keep my original, it is the one pictured in the middle. The original is more gold, the repro has more of a copper tint to it but still very good.

I ordered these earlier this month and received in a satisfactory manner from George today. He responded to all my emails in a timely manner and the transaction went very smoothly.

Regards,

Ray

Just this morning, received an answer from George Laurie about putting parts on ebay with a BUY NOW price (must have stock to sell on ebay). And he informed that in about a week he will be gone for three months, but will be taking (but not filling) orders while he is away. Good luck to all you guys that have anything on order from him.

I remember when i said that the reproductions of this guy where expensive and not NOS quality, i had 3 or 4 Australian members of this forum giving me s**t, for some reason none of them (or any other Australian), said nothing in this thread.

I disagree with your assessment of the quality of his product.... at least as regards those numerous ones that I have purchased and received over the years in dealing with him. It is just a darn shame he doesn't know anything about running a business and servicing customers properly. A real shame.

George,

You got that right, and I told him so in an email dialogue and he didn't disagree. He did try to run that old song and dance about how he is a one-man shop and makes everything personally and by hand. But, I ain't buying it. Told him it was a real shame, but I have a real problem paying up front for hand-made one-at-a-time products. What if he dies in the middle of proceedings. I'm out 1 or 2 grand and still no parts.

My last email contact with George Laurie was on 11 June.
Since then I have heard nothing from him anymore..

On 22 January I have ordered, and payed $190 in advance, two front fender " eyebrow" emblems for my 1960 Imperial.
According to Mr. Laurie they were shipped on 19 May but they never showed up here.

Normally it only takes 5 or 7 days to ship items from Australia to the Netherlands, so I consider them as lost...
That is if they ever has been send out to me in the first place!

I see no reason why something like a parcel for Australia suddenly gets lost in the mail.. After all he was sending it to the Netherlands and not to Nigeria!
Since emails are not answered anymore I don't have a good feeling about..

Too bad, cause I always have trusted this guy..

Hi gang,

With regard to my previous message:

Looks like George Laurie is back in business again! Just an hour ago I received this message from him:

" Hello Rob, I have run out of the Eyebrow emblems but am making a couple of pairs now that will eb finished next week, I will send them out then. I belive you that they offer tracking for extra, but I never usualy lose parcels and the extra paperwork would be a pain. I am sure we will have no trouble a second time, regards George"

I am happy to give him a second change, and ofcourse I will keep y'all informed about the progress this time!

Rob

I do have a similar problem with George, ordered and paid in December 2007 and he was going to ship the lenses in January. After sending him emails every week since the end of February his reply was on May 27th

Hello Ron, I am sorry I have not answered you, I only just found out that since I got a new compter a while back I have been loosing a LOT of emails into something stupid called a Spam folder! boy is it taking some sorting out! anyway I have send your Lenses, you may even have them by now? regards George.

Waited for weeks and contacted him again on june 14th telling him I was getting

Two days later he replied:

Hello Ron, sorry there is no tracking numbers with Australia Post, I will have to think they have gone missing in the post and will send out anouther pair my first trip to town in 2 days time. I am sorry for the whole slow supply problem, I am not normaly so slow, but all the unbelivable problems this year have really knocked me, regards George.

So far nothing has arrived here but I keep hoping that the lenses will appear eventually. George makes excellent parts but every time you order something his lack of communication and the waiting are very frustrating.

He made repro hood and trunk medallions for my 55 NY'er that are perfect, took 3 months and 4 e -mails. It was worth it though, but all the uncertainty can be torturous especially when big money is involved. You would think someone in the states would give it a " go".

I'm beginning to think he's a pathological liar. He always tells you what you want to hear, but never delivers on his promises, kind of like Gary Goers.

I dont know anything about this guy other than he told me to remove the chevy and Ford crap that I posted in the misc for sale items. There not my cars, I just thought they were nice old cars at great prices that any car lover would love to see. Very Rude!

I would take exception to your remark regarding Gary Goers. I have had excellent results with Gary and have been dealing with him for the past 5 or 6 years. Sometimes a little slow but has always delivered when promised something needed in a hurry.

I really, REALLY was not going to post to this thread... then I read Dave's post. I am at my wits ends; I ordered taillights from George back in January of 2006 - TWO THOUSAND & SIX - and still have not received them. After numerous emails in which I was told he wasn't happy with the chevrons or the new mold, I was promised parking lens and dome lens. After hearing about his generator failing and his health issues: after being scolded that he is the sole source for lens in the world and that I would be most pleased with them, he has not answered a single email from me since JANUARY. Am I griping? darn right I am. Think I am embellishing? I can produce all the relevant emails (and I sent the entire thread to him in January to "remind" him.). Should I have waited a while longer? Maybe, but if he won't answer emails what else am I to do? He's had my money for TWO AND A HALF YEARS.

Now I find out he has been selling lens on ePay. I just hope no one else has had to wait this long...

Sad to heard all this, really is amazing a guy doing all this, is not going to get this monkey out of his back soon. Mopar and especially FL cars is a very small world. Ill try to warning people of this a long time ago, the only reply to my post came from others Australians giving me s**t, and defending this crock, for some reason those guys are not in this post.
