My 57 has single exhaust and it is in bad shape and needs replaced. How hard is it to change to dual exhaust? I noticed there is a bracket right behind the muffler that supports the exhaust pipe and bolts? to the frame. I assume I will need a similar piece for the other side, is it easy enough to just make something or do I need to find that bracket somehow? And where can I get a complete exhaust for my Plymouth?

Thanks!

As far as the bracket is concerned,
I would make another frame bracket and use a universal Heavy Duty bracket from it to the back end of the muffler. You should be able to make a bracket easily enough in a decent vice.

Contact Kantor on the exhaust. Talk to John Wetangle 800-526-1096 Ext. 375 Tell him "Hobby" sent you. "That won't get you too far, but it will make him work harder for you. . He's my neighbor) See if John can make you a dual exhaust for it. I know the Kantor exhausts work and fit pretty well. I've used them before several times. I just got an exhaust for my 59 Saratoga. It fell right into place like it should have. By the way, spend the extra $50 on the alumunized exhaust. WORTH THE MONEY! The whole exhaust should be around $400 with the aluminumizing.

If he can't help you, Mienike is the next best bet

Price seems about right. I just paid just under 400 for duals on my 59. CarX bent them up for me. They had to custom bend it all, but it works good. Sleeper quiet when you are sitting still, but has a good rap when you floor it.

My car ( 57 ply 318 ) had no exhaust.
The pipes where joined at the fire wall for a single system
got a local Exhaust guy to bend up two pipes straight thru to the back.
2 1/4" . Had 1 set of mufflers in it. was to quiet. So got some other ones put on
with 3inch angle cut tips. sounds great, not to loud but good rumble
cost me around $400 AUS.

Good exhaust shop should be able to do the lot without spending a fortune.
