Trim plate on the firewall is not in too good of shape so this is what I think it reads:

SCHED NO MOD
0523 8760 D632


DT RT TR
826 077 539

Can you help me decode the above or shed light on it in any way? Thanks, Dan

Heheheh; allright! That's pretty much what I'd hope you'd find, over on that General Discussion board!

You've got a 1956 Royal 2-dr HT in white/gold/white, but with the Royal version of the black-and-white
upholstery motif!

The car was 'Scheduled' to have been built around 5/23/56, so, I would SWAG that its D500 stamping would be something
around D500-5xxx .

Thanks d500neil: Forgive me, but I still am not sure if this means I am looking at a regular 56 Royal which happens to be painted white/gold/white or if this car is a Golden Lancer. Are all white/gold/white Lancers considered Golden Lancers or is their something special which makes some Golden Lancers and others not? The interior dash, steering wheel, and other painted surfaces are indeed gold as well. The interior is white, black and grey, but it has been replaced so who knows what it was originally. Also, where on the block is the serial number stamped on the engine??? Thanks, Dan

I cannot assist with the body trim color issues, but I can tell you where the engine number is.

At the front center of the engine, by the oil fill tube, there is a pad in frontont of the lifter valley cover.

This will have the number on it.

Dodge D500 engines will have a "D500 - xxxxxx" number.

A 315 poly will have a "D62 - xxxxx" number or a "D63 - xxxxxx" number.

If it is a 270 poly, it will have a "D61 - xxxxx" number.

BTW, ALL D500s for 1956 had SOLID lifters and adjustible rocker arms, so therefore the valve covers have "bumps" in them, and the wire covers for the spark plug wires have notches in them to clear the bumps, which are there due to the adjuster nuts on the exhaust rocker arms.

Dan, that gold color was not a regular item; "your" car, being built in May, most-certainly is one of the mid year introduced
Golden Lancers.

That gold color was introduced on the 1957 models, and was very popular.

Outside of the race car D501's, there were no 'special' 1957 sub-models produced, beyond the "Texan" models
(which were introduced in 1956).

In 1958, Dodge re-introduced the Golden Lancer, as well as the Spring Specials, and the Regal lancers, and the Texans.

Your car's white/black/gray motif sounds like its OEM upholstery.

Hank is absolutely correct, but those same 'bumped' solid-lifter-compatible valve covers and notched wire run covers
were also used on the 1957 hydraulic valve liftered engines.
