Expert Posts: 1480 Location: Australia | fabulous!! ive always dreamed of having a similar business lending out and preparing 50's/ 60's film/ tv sets and photo shoots... sourcing all the items for the film company and making sure that everything is period correct, not much annoys me more than watching a show that is set in say 1958 and seeing a 1962 phone on set or a 1967 fridge... so frustrating...

Yeah, or seeing mercury vapor streetlights on aluminum cobra arm brackets and aluminum poles in a scene supposedly taking place in 1929. Or seeing a movie taking place immediately after the JFK assassination featuring a '56 Chevy with 1966 dog dish hubcaps, or seeing a movie set in 1959, with a power transmission line along a street featuring pylons designed in the early 1970s, or seeing a 1970s payphone and a '67 Caprice in "American Graffiti", or seeing a a movie set in 1918, in a neighborhood built in 1916 with mature trees in front of every house, or seeing movies where the actors and actresses wear hair styles from the era the movie was shot rather the era the story was taking place................ K. P.S.- If you've ever seen the television show "Happy Days", I can assure people from Milwaukee did not have New York City or Southern California accents.................they sound like Wisconsinites, like I do! P.P.S.- Movie people can very abusive with vintage vehicles and antique props. I know some people who had their cars messed and given "half-assed" repairs, if any repairs at all by production companies and studios. Loaner beware!!!

Expert Posts: 1508 Location: new york | If you have a show car ,it's not for you. some of my cars never go, on a movie set . To theses guys its just s prop and they don't care what ! How rare it is , or how much you love it , it's been hired and they try to use it any way they want. You have to be on them" like fly's on horse $hi*" To make sure theres no damage. They say "Don't worry it's insured" and I say F&^% the insurance I don't want any mishaps!!! So you have to be careful. Its hard to make a Living at this unless you have a couple hundred cars and truck's , and contracts with modern stuff and who want's to store and upkeep Fire truck's street cars etc from the 80's 90's and present. But some jobs here and there help pay the bill's and upkeep on my collection. Thanks For looking! and HAPPY MOTORING! Victor..
