I am changing my system to 12v and was wondering how to hook up the overdrive. Somone told me the solenoid would be fine on 12v. If so do i still need the pull cable. Just need some insight what has everyone else done. My engine is the 270 red ram.
thanks

The cable is for the mechanical "lock-out" function and has nothing to do with the electrical side of the system. You will need to keep it.

I am not familiar with the wiring of the '55 set-up, but am guessing you could use a ballast resistor to step down the 12 volts to 6 volts for the solenoid. I could be wrong, but I believe this was done from the factory with some 12 volt overdrive cars using six volt solenoids and relays. I do not know if Mopar ever did it that way.

Don't forget about your relay.
