Location: The Mile High City | looks to be an aged repaint of an originally sand beige car...optional hand brake warning light. Radio, custom steering wheel, clock, power rear window, probably has the fancy padded visors, padded dash, heater, Ram-Fire 350 and all the goodies. PS, PB and power windows! She could be nice! Location: The Mile High City | Howdy, Neil. That what the "9p" is! With a bit of imagination, that repaint almost gives it a Regal wagon look... Edited by Lancer Mike 2009-09-24 9:44 PM

Location: The Mile High City | Oh, and I meant to say sand metallic or beige. I can't tell which by that exposed A pilar, but I would lean toward sand metallic.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Mike, I dunno about that "9P", but, that escutcheon-type ornament on the deck lid says "Spectator" on it, and all 1958 9-passenger wagons (but, not the '59(+) 9-passenger's) got the outside-accessed spare tires, and also the power rear window lift, and, this car's got them both, too.

Location: The Mile High City | Sorry Neil - 9p = nine passenger wagon and implies that it has the spectator deck lid and outside spare compartment standard.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Mike, IIRC, the 9-passenger feature was optional on the Custom Sierras---actually, you mean to say that when the third seat was ordered, you got both the power rear glass, and the outside accessed spare tire, along with the third seat option? Otherwise, the outside spare and the power rear glass were individually optionally available.

Location: The Mile High City | Maybe Sparky can jump in on this too. My understanding is that either the Sierra or the Custom Sierra was available with the third "spectator" seat (nine passenger) option. The outside spare tire compartment was manditory with the spectator option because of the footwell space. From what we learned earlier, the outside spare tire compartment was optional on the six passenger wagons (Custom Sierra, Sierra, and we assume Suburban). From what I know, the power rear glass always came with the "spectator" seat option and that rear tailgate lift handle proudly proclaimed "spectator" in block letters. Wagons without the spectator option could be had with a manual rear glass piece and an external window winder on the tail gate.

Elite Veteran Posts: 636 | I think you guys are both right. All Custom Sierras had the rear power window standard. And it was also standard with the 3rd seat on "Sierras." The outside-access spare was standard on all 9 passenger wagons and optional on the 6 passenger wagons. I don't know if the open/close switch on the inside, above the back window, is standard on the 9 passenger wagon. It's a trade off; if you are a responsible adult in the back, you can adjust the window to your liking, and it's reassuring to think you can get out quickly . . . . if you ride in the back you will know what I mean, as that is a slightly creepy place to be while underway. (As a kid, it didn't bother me.) On the other hand if you have kids riding back there, that open/close switch could be a bad thing. I'm not aware of any "lockout" switch available up front. Mike I don't know if the outside access spare was an option on the 2-door "Suburban." I don't think I have seen one, even on a Plymouth--which shares its 2-door wagon shell with Dodge. Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | I've never seen a 2dr wagon with the outside spare tire. The 2dr wagons used a different quarter panel than the 4dr wagons so there would have to be two different 2dr wagon quarter panels on the body assembly line to accomodate an external spare - and probably wasn't likely, since there was no Spectator option for 2dr wagons. Just going with my gut here - I have already been proven wrong on this subject before (the 4dr 6p wagons had the Spectator option)
