I have a 61 Pioneer with a 318 ci & Powerflight, I am converting to a 62' 413 ci with a Torqueflight. The donor came from a Chyrsler Newport and while pulling it I grabbed the motor mounts, crossmember. Additionally I located a 3speed push button set-up, speedo-cable. Will this be a direct bolt in, or am I spoiled by working on Chevys all my life? Do I need anything else to make this happen. I went with the 62 setup to accomdate the dreaded e-brake situation as the 61's do not have a 'Park' setting and the rearend is not conducive to e-brake setup found on the tailshaft of my cars current e-brake setup. any direction would be greatly appreciated. Merry X-mas and a Happy New Year!!

Sam

One thing to remember is when dealing with Chevies and Mopars, NOTHING is as simple as a "Bolt-in", but it's not as compicated as some make it out to be.....The Chrysler driveshaft might be a little long for the Pioneer, that Aluminum TF will NOT Bolt in where the powerflite came out, but it's nothing that someone couldn't fab up the mounts and such...As for the Engine swap, the 413 Should WITH THE CORRECT MOUNTS "Bolt -in"...

The Chrysler Shift cable should reach up to the dash and hook up as the Chrysler cable is longer than the powerflite cable...I'm doing this swap with a '62 TF in a '58 Plymouth right now for a customer and while it doesn't bolt in, it WILL bolt in after a little fab work....

While you were at it, you should have grabbed the TF Push Button set up...

61 for fun. 1962 was the first year for the aluminum torqueflite--butttttt----it does have the "dreaded E brake on it" The Torqueflite minus that E Brake and with an actual parking sprag came out in 1963
(Now how do I know that) Cause that is the Tranny the Seller put in my 59 Dodge Vert.
Fortunately the Seller has also "Updated the rear end" to a 69 Roadrunner so it had the newer bigger drum brakes.
So I had my "Car guy" buy the cables that attached to the Rear drums on each side, along with the "center" or connecting cable.
He then made a pivot point and a lever (Swing arm) so the cable that is actually connected to the parking brake handle handle attatches to one end of the swing arm, whilst the other end of the swing arm attatches to the "center" cable. (Hence when you pull the parking brake handle, it locks the rear 2 drums.)
It works pretty well, cept I want him to change the Ratio of the swing arm, as right now I havta pull the handbrake all the way out to set it.
(A friend of mine was concerned about it taking too much effort to pull the handle so our first try was to give a "Mechanical Advantage" to make the handle easier to pull.) Actually this was not a problem as it pulls easier than the old design did, and it you step on the brake pedal before you step on the parking brake, It is REALLY Easy to pull.
Anyway it works pretty good as noted above, after the first of the year, I will have him redo the ratio of the lever.

Good luck with yours, and if you need details of what I did to mine, I can get them sometime after the 1st of the year.
Welcome to FL

Gary

Thanks a bunch Guys.... very helpful...and 345 desoto I did grab the pushbutton setup.. in fact I have two. I do like the idea of a newer rearend and getting rid of the whole tailshaft e-brake setup.. but now that I have already procured it...I think I will make it work. Thanks again guys.. I really do appreciate you and this site... very, very helpful.
