My '58 DeSoto project continues to progress at a snail's pace.

I've recently become infatuated with the Power Giant era trucks, particularly the '59 and '60. I'm evaluating dropping a Power Giant cab on a mid-90's Dodge Ram with the 12V Cummins. I'm trying to determine the tread width of the different models. I can't find anything online. I've attached three pics showing three different front fender configurations. The first (green) is the standard light-duty truck with just a lip over the wheel well. The second (blue) has a larger integrated flare and was seen on the light Power Wagons and some of the medium duty trucks. The third (faded red) is the add-on fender round found on the big honchos.

Does anyone know where I can find the dimensions and specs of these trucks? Thanks!

I really dislike the proportions of these when not equipped with the fender flares. They have a
bit of a bulldog face on them anyway, but the boxiness without those flares is just too much for
my tastes. I like that dump truck a lot though. Is that the 59 Fury dump truck model ?

You should watch epay as I have seen some of the literature you seek there. I also am intrigued by these trucks and currently have a 56 1/2 ton and a 59 2 1/2 ton to restore.

I'll check one to be sure, but I believe all of that info is in the Dodge Truck Body Builder's Books. Not sure if Chrysler still produces this book, but they were around at least from the early 1950's and I see one on ebay now from 2004.

Is tread width all you're looking for?

I always wanted to go one step further mounting a 75-75 era Big Horn class 8 tractor on a late model running gear like a W-900 KW or a Pete. Always thought those cabs had the ultimate hood.

Going that route would give you all the current DOT legal stuff along with serviceability and reliability.
I located a couple cut offs years ago but that's about as far as it went.

Found the U.S. '59 Dodge Body Builder's Layout Book

Front tread dimensions all varied according to the tires installed. I'll list the min and max for the following models along with the tire sizes involved.

D100 58.63 w/ 6.50-16 58.75 w/ 670-15

D300 56.75 w/7.00-16 59.06 w/7.00-17

D800 69.80 w/11-22.5 70.54 w/10-22.5

All of these dimensions are measured through the center of the tire, not to the outside.

Thanks for the dimensions! I'm surprised how narrow these trucks were compared to more recent models. The 1997 Ram 1500 has a front track of 66.9" and the 3500 has a front track of 69.8". I'm not sure if "front track" represents total width, or only goes to the middle of the tires, like the numbers you quoted.
