He is an excellent kind of old school vendor, amazing inventory especially for C- body cars of the 60s/70s.

I've known Len for about 30 years now, not a finer MoPar vendor will you find than Len, every bit a gentleman!! He's probably around 80 years young now and still seems to be going strong and enjoying life. He lives here in the Northwest, in Anacortes Washington. And he prefers not to deal by telephone but by fax request. If you know your part number you can search his inventory for it.

Thanks guys .. nice reviews about len dawson.
That's great news.
He has a lot of nos parts he claims and when I purchase items I like to see what I am buying before I pay for it .. not like ebay where people say it has no rust or issues / shelf ware ....... you can accually see it in the pics .. these ebayers are some scammers... so .. I was just alittle lurie about len dawson.. good thing is ............if you don't like the item............ he has no issues about sending it back. That's Cool with me.

I've bought lots of items from Len - two of which had issues - one was an NOS 60 Dodge taillight that had bad plastic-chrome plating and he replaced it immediately with another, and didn't require me to send the bad one back. The other was an NOS oil pressure gauge for my 1960 Chrysler, the electro-luminescent light wire was corroded off and since he was out of stock he refunded my payment. I was only expecting a partial refund as I was able to get a new wire soldered in without an issue. But that is Len for you, a great guy.

only thing that is leary with me is how to send him credit card payment thru email.. I don't think that would be a good idea to do giving out my credit card numbers. what do you guys think?
the oher optionis to send him my wish list thru mail and give him the credit card numbers that way, which is safer that way.

Credit card purchases are VERY secure, for the buyer.

You have fraud protection ($50K?) on its usage---that's why the c.c. companies are so quick to cancel your card, once
they detect unusual usage of it.

For this reason, and ESPECIALLY if you are traveling...you should carry a second card with you, because you do not want to
lose your primary card, or have your c.c. company deactivate it, on you, which they can and will do, if they think that they
need to protect their money (due to your fraud protection on their card).

Also, a buyer can dispute a c.c. transaction, and the card company will go to bat on your behalf, in rectifying the transaction
dispute, and/or will refund your purchase price on their payment records.

And, if you are going to travel, it really helps to call the c.c. Customer Service line, and tell them that you are
going to be making purchases away from your home-area.

A couple years ago, I tried to use my c.c. to buy some (cheap) gas, to fill the tank, on the way to home.

The 'pump' rejected the card, but I had enough gas to get home.

When I got there, there was already a call on the 'machine' to call Customer Service.

Turned out that some slimeball, in Winston Salem NC, had gone to a Lowes and to a Staples, and had attempted
to make a couple large purchases, using my c.c. 'number', but he didn't have its back-side Security Code,
and, the c.c. computer 'knew' that I hadn't used that card to make any airline reservations, or other
purchases back-East.

So, they deactivated my card, and I could have been really screwed, if I had been way out of town, and
needing to use that card...

They over-nited a new card, but I had to change all of my automatic monthly c.c. charge-accounts, to
reflect my new c.c. number.

Send him your wish list and do the cc over the phone or do a direct funds transfer, but I would never put my cc numbers on an email or a letter, especially the security code

What Neil says is correct as far as the buyer protectection, but if they say you have been neglegent with the security of your card or its details, they can and do reject the claims

I think putting the security code down in written form would probably qualify

I would be more comfortable doing the direct transfer, but I do have an eftpos machine and sometimes customers just give me the numbers over the phone and I put them straight into the machine (no written record), so once the transaction is done, there is no way me (or anyone else) can use that info

Your c.c. number can be stolen whenever you give it out; over the phone or when you hand your card to a food server, etcetcetc...

I always dislike giving out my card's Security Code, but life is too short to live in Paranoia, and the c.c. companies are
very efficient in their detecting fraudulent usage of your card (and protecting of THEIR money), from your past patterns of
usage in your purchases.

I've only tried once to buy from him. His site listed an NOS part I needed, so I called him and left a message.

Like most parts I need, I needed it sooner rather than later. In this case I was in the middle of a trans rebuild and the part was holding me up.

The next day, he still had not called back, so I looked elsewhere and found what I needed and ordered it. It came in two days later. Not that it was critical, but it was about $15 less than Len's price.

I installed the part, finished the trans. Later that day Len called back and said he had the part I needed and could get it shipped within a few days.....

He's probably a good guy for stuff that is not time sensitive but if you need it anytime soon he's not the guy.

Surprisingly, Len Dawson is the reason I got my first credit card. When he handled Studebaker parts it was such a hassle to figure the total purchase we were forever sending checks back and forth for payment and refunds of overages I finally got a card and never looked back.

I have been dealing with him for decades. Never had a problem. True, he does business old school style, but he is honest and easy to deal with.
