I'm kinda curious. I am working on the 325 Poly engine out of my '57 Firesweep, and I got to wondering: Did DeSoto have a name for this engine? The Hemi obviously was the FireDome, there were Red Rams, FirePower, Golden Commandos etc. Does anybody know? Don't ask me why my mind comes up with this stuff, it just does....

Location: The not-so-great, dirty-white North ( Michigan)		My 1957 DeSoto Service Manual simply calls it "Firesweep Engine"

When the De Soto Corperation was told to re-badge the 122 inch Wheel-Based Dodge and to use the Dodge
325 cubed Engine too, it became the FireSweep.

In 1957 all the regular De Soto's either have the 341 or 345 Cubed Engine ( and they are not poly's ). The
regular De Soto's are on a 126 Wheel-Base.

Location: Nasco , SWEDEN		i´ve read somewhere that "TURBOFLASH" was used in 1958! but 1957 was a tougher nut to crack! 1957 4bbl 325 poly option is called "powerpack"

The only non-Hemi Desoto built after 1954 was the 57 Firesweep engine we're talking about. And if not mistaken,
DeSoto never really had a hand in them. They were Dodge, just like the frame, chassis, and sedan bodyshells.

I think you should give it your own name. How about the Golden Lion Adventurer 500 Ramcharge Turboflash ? ..

..... maybe something fancier ? Think like an eBay seller .... "One year only. Hand-built by the King of Persia ...
... "

Location: hopkinsville, kentuckky		Well, if that is not enough, did you guys know that 1958 Desoto Firesweeps had a 350 engine. ONe year only. I think it was the first big block with the distributor on the front of the engine??????
