59 Plymouth 318 poly......can any big or small block high torque starter motors by used on a poly ???????Thanks

No. The ring gear for reduction gear starters did not have the same number of teeth as the previous ring gear. Thus the starter will not work.

And this is something to keep in mind with Canadian-built 1962-65 slant six cars. Although Chrysler Canada adopted the reduction gear starter for all V8 models, Canadian slant six engines continued on with Prestolite starters through 1965. Thus when changing the ring gear or the torque converter on Torqueflite models, do not install the unit listed for American models. You will crack the starter's pinion gear. For Torqueflite models, use the 1961 model torque converter.
