Member Posts: 10 | Hi all. Picked this up a while back and only now getting round to sharing it. Pretty much a basket case that got worse as I opened it up some more. My times free, so I plug away when work and family commitments allow. Colin (IMG_3621.JPG) Attachments ---------------- IMG_3621.JPG (450KB - 182 downloads)

Extreme Veteran Posts: 507 Location: Invermere B.C. Canada - Rocky Mountains | Hi Colin, thanks for posting. A nice project, and I see you have two helpers, one active worker and one more of a foreman / observer type. From a gray haired old guy's observation I think that the enjoyment you get working on the project and doing it the way you want is very important. Unfortunately the number of 55-56 car owners is not huge, so the responses sometimes can be little disappointing, but we will persevere .

Member Posts: 10 | Thanks Old Ray. I've tracked down a few good contacts over here but certainly thin on the ground! I'll post some more soon as I've made a bit of progress since this picture. I work a relatively stressful desk job, so getting in the garage and working with my hands again is my stress relief. I've certainly been enjoying it!

Veteran Posts: 148 Location: Mandurah, Western Australia | Hi Colin Great to see another RHD 1955 Plymouth being worked on. You certainly have a job ahead of you but you are making good headway! Hopefully you will have access to parts in NZ as I gather the 1955 Plymouth was sold there, unlike here in Aus where they sold a home grown version of the 1954 P25 to cut costs. They did eventually use the 1955 front panels in Aus on the 1957 Chrysler Royal which still used the old pre Forward Look body. I have a RHD wagon, same colour as yours, matt black sprayed over original Peach, registered and running but rough. There are some pics on this forum taken soon after I bought it in 2014. I should post some updates as have done more work on it but am trying to keep it on the road so progress is slow. I believe it came from NZ but don't have any history on it. I holidayed in NZ last year and saw a 1956 wagon in a shed near Geraldine which confirmed they were sold in NZ but haven't been able to get any other information. Would be interested if you know more. Keep on restoring! Jim

Member Posts: 10 | Cheers Jim! Yea - will be a while before she sees the road again. We got them hear new from the Canadian stock. Mine was built in Detroit. Later Todd Motors in Wellington built mopars from transport kits. Seeing that NZ is so close to the sea everywhere, the tin worm took the bulk of them. I've come across a couple in my travels. Even a 56 Fury last week in need of full resto. That's where I got a whole bunch of missing parts - which pop up online from time to time. If you get back over here, Horopito Motors in central north island / national park, has an unbelievable amount of cars from 1930s to now. Even a few forward look cars. Colin

Member Posts: 10 | Hi Alan - Great to hear from another local enthusiast! I'm on the Hibiscus Coast just north of Auckland. I have family in Christchurch but only get down there once a year. At the moment I'm looking for a window reg or two, a door opening mechanism / latch, Rhs stainless trim from front door at A pillar above beltline, and a front screen. I'll eventually have to go right through the suspension and brakes but there's some good threads on here for that when the time comes. I think body work will consume me for the next year or so! Is there anything you are looking for? I have a good contact up these ways who has wrecked a few over the years. Cheers Colin

Member Posts: 10 | Thanks big m. Just had a look at your website - wow! My kind of Disneyland for sure! We have a pretty reasonable yard over here but has a lot of English stuff. Doing a parts run in a couple weeks so will put up some photos for those interested. Aerial photo at this link https://www.google.com/maps/place/Horopito+Motors+40+Mat...
