Hi Everyone,

Fluid won't stay in master cylinder, but can't find a leak ANYwhere in system... all lines dry, no leaks @ wheel cylinders, I'm baffled on this one.

Any suggestions / thoughts as to where to look / what to look for?

Power brakes on this car, canister type power assist.

Pedal just goes to floor.

Several months ago would leak down a little fluid each month or so, but a top off would take care of it. The car sat for 10 days a few weeks ago while I was out of state, and when I got back, nothing on the pedal.

Thanks!

bryan

Well it must be leaking somewheres.... look under the dash where the brake pedal rod goes through, could be leaking there.... the master cylinder probably needs to be rebuilt. The rubber seals go soft and leak. I had that happen in my 51 Buick, rebuilt it and it was like new.

I suspected master cylinder. That's the first place I'll start. Thanks for reinforcing~!

I'll second Greg's thoughts on this.

Ditto, ditto. The internal piston in the master is shot so the fluid just blows past and back into the reservoir.
