Location: Belford, NJ | I don't even think it is worth the $600 the guy is trying to get from it. If I were closer, I'd consider making him an offer and make a custom. At least it would be saved in one way or the other. I would KILL to have a 2 door hardtop. |

That was a concept dreamed up by Steve Stanford and it translates really well to sheetmetal.
Personally, I have NO problem with that at all. Looks like he got the best part of that Plymouth. It's not like he cut up a museum piece crossram Fury or anything. |

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada | You, know, maybe his Impala would have turned out just as nice (or nicer) if he had taken the roof from a '61 or '62 GM full size coupe. It would have looked just as cool and perhaps more "factory."
Oh well, I'm sure some people will rip me for "wasting" a DeSoto Hemi in my '59 Plymouth or for using parts from my long ago scrapped (back in 1983) rust bucket '68 Charger R/T in my '68 Imperial.

Location: Auburndale Florida | Yeah I saw that in a magazine, the roof should have been used on another Plymouth instead of wasting it on that, just as bad as using a Ch**y engine in another car companies car, I'm just tired of it. |

Trying to reach a bonafide Chev lover is like trying to explain computer virus' to a cat ! 
They like 'em and see nothing wrong with them being common as bellybuttons and twice as good looking.
Even I can find *some* things to like about most makes at some point in history, but multiply that out against spending cubic coin to totally redo one, and the dynamics of dollars causes at least some of us to ask "is this the best car to spend all that energy on?"
Yet we all know the armies that mass to the iconic Bowtie God. Obviously, we all think there are better choices, but the unwashed hordes of hoy-pelloy do not agree with us high-falootin' Mopar nuts! 
Just as well. I have no desire to run with that bunch anyhow.

Location: Belford, NJ | As an update... the car did not sell so it's being made into a couch as per the owner. I asked him if he would sell me the passenger side stainless from the car as I've been looking for it for my car. He said that he had it, but would need it for the couch. So... I offer him a set (both sides) from a savoy, as I have a spare set that bought. Sent him a pic and told him that they would work just as good for his couch as they cover the entire fin. No luck!!
Not to be a jerk, but if even if I had the cash to build full on customs as he seems to do, I would still help give back to the hobby as much as I could. I'm not bashing this guy by any means, he was nice enough to respond to all of my e-mails. I guess I'm just looking to vent.

Agreed...the Plymouth could be very rough and hard to save. Looks like Chrysler Corporation even made this GM car look pretty good. I've got a '58 Saratoga roof that I'd donate to someone. |

We need a cure for the *moron* virus that makes people think that hideous "kustom" abortions like this are a good idea.
I'd like to cut the rest of this guys lowrider up and put the Plymouth fins on the back the Plymouth front clip on it and mopar motor back in it and see if the owner thinks it's "cool".
Seriously,let's see some idiot cut up a '57 chevy and use the roof on a 1956 Plymouth and let's see what the bowtie sheep think about it!
Stupid is as stupid does! Just think about the time and money this person dumped into doing this! Wow! It's a chevy with a Plymouth roof and big chrome ghetto wheels!
If this guy wanted something unique to drive around he should have restored the Plymouth and left this chebby to the south central boys.

Agreed 100% I have seen the car in person a number of times and that roof looks killer on that Impala. Chevrolet designers always said "we could never quite capture the roof lines that Chrysler had" |

Location: Ny | I think the Impala looks great. As for the remains of the Plymouth, it's unfortunate that nobody bought it, but at least it is getting use. Nobody here put in a bid to take it home, so I don't understand why the hard feelings of it going to "waste"? Would you rather the car go to the crusher?
I'm glad to see someone's concept/dream translated so well. It really brings the creator's vision to life, and does the car some justice. I have seen some pretty hideous customs. This is not one of them. |

I have a book that is about the styling studios of all US auto manufactures in the 50's and in that book there is a picture of a '59 Ford, which is not all that pretty, but this full scale model had the 60-61 Starliner roof on it. It looks fantastic and makes the '59 look sooooo much better. I think Ford was just a little unsure of how that car would be received, so they held off on the roof one more year. |

Yep, very interesting. BTW, I'm heading to North Carolina on Wednesday to save a '57 Desoto sedan that was otherwise going to be crushed. |

Location: MN | The 2 dr hdtp roof lines really set the stage for an autmobiles appearance 69 Charger, 64-67 B body, 6o-61 Dodge Ply, 57-59 Dodge Ply, 60=61 Des-Chry etc. It interesting the manner which the 63 Impala was transformed. There are interesting 4dr styles as well

I agree with the guy who said congrats on making it look like a furd. I see junk.. I'd much rather have seen something totally fabricated the real old-school way. I don't see a fabrication marvel, just welding.. but that IS just an opinion. Just thought I'd clarify I don't mean the car is junk but the decision sure is. Chevvy did make a bubble top.
