Expert 5K+ Posts: 6506 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/1862370248.html This is an all original 1958 Plymouth Silver Special. It has a Powerflite transmission with a 318 V8 engine. Body is good, chrome is above average, interior is fair. Runs great! Everything works including heater and radio. The Silver Special is a unique model for 1958 Plymouth which includes side "forwardlook" emblems on the rear fenders. The Silver Specials were a spring sales promotion. They came with silver wheels a silver top and wide white wall tires were standard and the price was $1958. Also, the side stainless mouldings along the doors are unique to the Silver Special. I've owned the car for four years and bought it from the original owner. Car has always been in San Francisco. VERY RARE CAR. $5500. certification/guarantee. Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Steve, you probably want to carry a spare water pump with you and spare upper & lower radiator hoses (the generic corrugated ones are fine). The fan belts and maybe points/condensor probably should be replaced 'now', unless they have recently been replaced. I'd have Nick check out/overhaul the generator, for you, as well as have his mechanic check out the thermostat condition and lube up everything, including the driveline and the wheel bearings. The last thing that you need are 'surprises' during that cruise! The wheel cylinders should be checked/replaced as necessary and the brakes adjusted. And then, there's the tires' condition to consider.... Edited by d500neil 2010-07-27 4:40 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 1155 Location: somerville mass | emailed today his mom passed away at 92. that would make her 40 in 1958 imsure nick was a kid and who knows she could have known the first owners he told mme he has a hard time letting go of cars and i'm sure it has sentimental value i'm sure she liked it and could have even driven it. i think he , now, may not want to sell it at all and i dont blame him.
