I want to swap out my genorator in my 59 chrysler windsor 383 for a alternator. Is this a easy task? What kind of alternator would be best? Do i also need to change the voltage regulator? Any help would be greatly apreciated........Marty

You would have to make the brackets or buy them off of ebay, thats if the head on the passenger side of the engine has the tapped hole in it, then you can use the regular brackets from ebay. If not the you have to fabricate the brackets. As for wiring go with a regular 3 wire Mopar alternator. Then you wouldn't have to change anything and still use your voltage regulator.

Your 1959 Passenger Side Exhaust Manifold has a mounting for the Generator.
You can use this same casting mount to attach the Alterantor to. If you use the
after 1961 stamped steel brackets ( that are bolted to the Timing Chain Cover
and the end of the Head ), the Exhaust Manifold that you now have will need to
be re-place for the mounting that you now have will be in the way.

You may need to do all of this away because of lack of clearance when the
hood is lowered ( closed ).
