After several years of rust cutting, painting and what else, I am finally ready to put my 56 Fireflite coupe back together. I removed the door locks when I prepared the car for painting, and now i don't remember how to put them back on. Talk about being stupid.....
I have the new locks and keys, they go easily in their place and lock the doors, but there is no way I can keep them in their place. When I remove the key, the lock comes out. Can't find a way to keep the lock in his place. Any help ? Looked on the FSM, but no help there.
Thank you for the suggestions.

There is kind of a 'U' shaped sprinbg steel clip, horseshoe if you may, that slips into grooves
on the backside of the lock. These are the locks that are independant of the handle assly, correct??

I believe the lock that goes to the trunk uses that same horseshoe shaped clip. If you have the trunk lock assembly, look at that clip as a reference for the missing ones.

Hi Antonello,

On most cars it's a horseshoe kinda clip. But...on the 56 DeSoto, the "clip"is an integral part of the door itself; there is no separate piece.
It slides left to right, and locks the lock into place.
I will try to take a picture of it today.

Here's what the manual says...

download it here...
