Member Posts: 22 | OK so I have what I am told is a 318 A and what I believe to be a 904 tranny. The person that I got them from says they came out of a 1966 Plymouth. I have been told that this combination was not an option... I am trying to verify what years they are, and well if they are indeed what I think they are. The The following numbers are on the transmission: Tailshaft: 3631600 05305 13 body of tranny: 2832764-2 DF 68 OD On bellhousing: 764-2 (twice) by input shaft: 1942382 The only number that I could find on the motor with a quick glance was found on the front of the block on the passenger side: 4 246823 On the intake on the front passenger side I also found this number: 6 2206383V I didn't see anything on the front driver side of the block, though it is a little dirty. Not sure if this is where I need to look or where. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Dan

Castings many times are used for more than one year and for more than one application. Engine - If the distributor is at the back of the transmission - numbers stamped into the block, left (driver`s) side, front of block, just below the head - - OR - If the distributor is at the front of the transmission - numbers stamped into block, front top, by coolant thermostat housing Transmission - Number stamped into the transmission housing, left side, just above the oil pan rail.

Elite Veteran Posts: 781 Location: Montreal, Canada | I did a quick web search and came up with this: http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=66 Line #18 you can read: # 2468230 stamped on the engine should be a 318 A engine from 60-66 Can it be right?

That's what I get for yacking on the phone, talking about transmissions, while typing.

Expert Posts: 3780 Location: NorCal | 57Plaza - 2010-12-12 7:14 PM The following numbers are on the transmission: Tailshaft: 3631600 05305 13 body of tranny: 2832764-2 DF 68 OD The raised casting number on the tail dates from the early seventies and the main case raised casting number dates from '68 so the transmission is a hybrid, not unusual. Look on the drivers side of the main case just above the pan gasket for a stamped series of numbers, this will be the part number and build date to identify it.
