I phoned in an order with these folks 1 month ago today, for beltline mldgs. window channel, belt line mounting clips and new division bar inserts.

I have called or emailed once weekly only to get one excuse or another. (Usually we've been busy with car shows, It isn't packed yet or we are working on that order right now..)
Oh and if the woman who answers the phone says she will check of the status of your order and call you back,
Don't wait by the phone! That call never came..

My experiance witht his group was actually quite the opposite. I called with a handful of part numbers that I thought I had researched well enough to ensure I was ordering the right stuff. I am not sure of the guy's name I spoke to, but he really gave me an education on what to use and why relative to my replacent window channel selection. I am working on the install right now and he gave me sound advice. I received my parts about 10 days after ordering.

Odd.  I've never had that kind of problem with them in the past.

Dave from R.S. just called and explained the hold up everything is on the straight and narrow!

Some very good news for other fl owners may be coming out of this ...

They are interested in re popping correct windshield and rear window gaskets for many of the fl cars.
I have offered them complete access to the many makes and models of window gaskets that I have been setting on as personal stash.

Some of the gaskets we discussed were.
57-59 Dodge Ply 2dr ht
57-59 Desoto Chrysler sdn
1960-6 Dodge Desoto Chrysler sdn

and others!

I talked to Dave extensively a couple of years ago at Iola. He was interested in any good weatherstrip I had on my car, but most of it wasn't correct to the car, I found out, when Dave and I walked around it. My guess is he is having difficulty finding good pieces to use for making molds.

Here's my Restoration Specialties & Supply story:

June 20, 2011 - after a few e-mails back and forth, I order a complete set of window sweepers for the Gammel Dodge (1958) and an 8-foot section of window channel. Shipping on the 8-footer will be expensive and the guy on the phone says "no problem, we will cut that in half and send it all in one package." Fine.

Couple of weeks later, package arrives - no window channel. Invoice has it on there, but no channel.

July 15, 2011 - I call Dave and he says "oh, yeah - that window channel is on back order. We will ship it out when it shows up." It would have been nice if they would have mentioned that on the phone or at least slipped a note in with the window sweepers!

Between then and now, several calls to Dave expressing frustration. Only one call from Dave to tell me that he doesn't know when the channel will come in.

In summary: I have windows sitting around waiting for Dave to get off his ass and send me the darn channel I paid for. Dave doesn't seem too concerned. Had I known what I know now, no way I would have ordered from them.

They have had some weird problems lately.... mostly this year. I always have had good accurate service from them till 2011. I ordered the beltline moldings (wiskers) for our 60 Polara 2dr hardtop and when they came a couple weeks later, the ones for the doors fit perfectly and snapped right in. The ones for the rear quarter windows were about 6 or 8 inches too long and most of the clips did not line up with the holes. I called in Feb and they said if I would send them a pattern, they would make them correctly. I sent the pattern right away and waited and waited. The end of Mar I called and was told they were ready and would be shipped... In Apr I called again and was told they would make them right away... I May I called again and was told they were ready and would be shipped. In June, I finally received them and they DO fit perfectly. It was frustrating but worth the wait, as I do not believe these for the 2dr hardtop are available anywhere else. I will deal with them again but I will stay right on top of the order weekly.

To follow up:

I sent an e-mail early last week asking if they had my part. The sent an e-mail back saying that the part would be in at the end of the week!

Last Thursday I get a call (not Dave) saying "hey, we need you to pay for this thing - we have your old card on file but it is expired." I ask "didn't I pay for this darn thing already?" Reply: "nope, we don't bill until we ship." From what I remember, the invoice that arrived with the wiskers had the channel on there.

So before I give him anything, I go back to find the invoice and the debit card records. It is taking a few days to put everything together (since this has been going on for about four months) and all of the sudden, the part arrives in the mail! In an eight-foot tube!

Weird. Let's see if any of this crap fits. Hopefully, it all does and we can wash our hands of each other.

Never had an issue with Restoration Specialties. Maybe I got lucky.

It seems like they are an honest outfit, but there start-to-finish communication and business organization is terrible.
