I just bought a 61 Imperial that had the stainless roof inserts in the trunk that I want to install. First, I need to know how to get the chrome strips off that are on the roof, and then need to know whether the inserts were glued or just held on by these same chrome strips. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The Roof Strips I have seen are with a bolt that is having a nut from the inside of the Roof. I have a '62 Crown 2dr
and at one time I had visions of adding the two Strips to my Roof. After seeing how they are attached to the Roof and
needing the Windshield Upper Strip I very soon forgot that Ideal.

The Head of the Bolt should be shaped as a High School Track ( two straights and a curve at each end ). This allows them
to be slide slightly to align the Roof Stip to the Hole in the Roof.

Tuxedo,

The online Imperial club has a huge database of information for the Imps. I use it all the time to solve those little mysteries. Also has a lot of info about the other Chrysler corporation vehicles
This will answer some of the above questions, even though it is for a '60.

Maybe I'll just trim them and glue 'em in place... hmmm... some would frown but it might work. They would look sooo nice.
