Location: lakeview, ny 14085		where can i find a chart of wheel sizes. not bolt pattern or 14 inch or 15 inch but wheel widths. i have a set of original 56 chrysler steel wheels and a set of 55 dodge steel wheels and think i ought to keep them in sets. was wondering what the width difference on them were without breaking them down.

Location: Under the X in Texas		They are all listed in the Mopar parts books of the era. Also widths are given in the Hollander interchange books. The problem with assuming the width in the book is the same as the width on your car 55 years later is that so long as the bolt pattern was the same, wheels got exchanged among family cars and junk yard cars whenever the originals got bent or better tires were on them; simple economics.

The proper wheel width depends on the tire. Dodge and Plymouth had a standard size tire (6.70-15) and an optional tire (7.10-15). Chryslers came in two chassis, junior (Desoto Fireflite, Windsor) and senior (Desoto Firedome, Imperial, NY). Dodge and Plymouth (in 1956) used the junior Desoto 5.5" wide wheel for their D500 and Fury. Not sure, but I think the senior chassis would go to 6.0" wheels and use something bigger than the 7.10-15 tire.
