I bought a 56 Coronet 2 door hardtop,,gold and white. The codes are: paint-977, trim-528, body-816, schedule-05 07 13 898. Is this a Golden Lancer? If so,,anybody know what the production totals were? I read somewhere that the Coronet GLs are more rare than the Custom Royal GLs....Any help appreciated.

..There we go; I have seen Golden lancers with both 977 and 077 PNT codes; most seem to have the 077 coding.

977 does not confirm the Coronet GL, though; I've got several Coro GL's with the 077 PNT coding.

Dunno about Coronet GL's being rarer than CRL's---that would seem to be counter-intuitive, and would be the answer to a
trivia question---what if any Custom Royal model out sold the corresponding Coronet model?

The rarest GL's would have to be the Royal models, however.

The BDY code confirms the Coronet V/8 model 2-dr hardtop.

TRM code 528 is the Coronet version of the black/white interior.

Also dunno when the GL models were introduced; The Dodge Story merely refers to the GL's as being of "mid-year" introduction, so I don't know how 'early' your May 7 Scheduled build date may be, but, it probably is not of 'very' early production, in that model series.

They all were 2-dr hardtops, however---wooda made for exciting convertibles, but, there were D500 GL's.
