The 60's were certainly the cleanest-designed Plymouth FWDLK'er.

Nice ride; love the wheels and hub caps.

Ya GOTTA go straighten up that antenna, though!! Easy enuf to do.

Back in the 'day', a mis-aligned antenna would be an irresistible attraction
to an antenna vandal.

Antenna vandals and hubcap stealers...my dad had 7-sets of spinners be liberated
from his 57 CRL; the thefts were covered by his insurance, as would be the bending
of an antenna.

The relative abundance of spinner hubcaps, today, has to be related to the extent of their
having been commonly stolen, in the 50's-60's.

It is missing the piece that fits behind the fender that holds it in place. It was just set in the hole and angled back it doesnt vibrate on the paint or jump out. I need another assymbly, I can live with it angled back until I find another since it still pics up a reception.

I have to tell you this car gets tons of attention.

It also brings out the best in stupid people.

Some of the ones that make me shake my head include.

a guy was telling me today in the Home Depot parking lot that he too had a "Cadillac Belvedere and his had a 396" It would fly too.
Yesterday at the QT I was told "it needs 24's an dat B**** be tight
I was told some triple gold dees would make it right. ......I don't even know what that means
A guy in Madison square said I should paint red like Christine... I am not making that up.

I have had several year guessers. 1957 is the most common guess followed by 1959. But there are some off the wall guesses, my favorite being 1975-76.

The best was when I drove to Advance Auto parts in my 2004 Buick Century and the guy saw me pull up. I was trying to order a front transmission seal for a 1960 Plymouth Belvedere and when he couldn't find it in the computer he pointed at the 2004 Buick and asked if that was it. I wanted to cry, how could this guy get a job selling parts?

Still a lot to do to get the Belvedere where it is reliable and running like new. I tackled the carb today. The car would run ok then spit and sputter at other times. This is what I had to start with. The last owner rebuilt it with the help of his fix all, orange silicone.

I spent an hour taking the carb apart, 3 1/2 cleaning the silicone off and ten minutes putting it together. It was a nightmare every passage was plugged, there was silicone in the bowls on the metering rod and in the jet. He siliconed the carb to the intake as well. I had to redrill some factory ports it was so bad. I almost threw it away and bought another. It runs soooo much better. Not only can I hang with traffic I might be able to pass somebody. It feels like an extra 50 ponies under the hood.

Those carbs are really prone to warp. I rebuilt a couple and I had to sand the top and body of the carb to get them flat. They are real bad to have internal vacuum leaks. Both my '60 and '61 will hang with the big dogs on the freeway up to @ 80mph but I have 3 on the tree.

Making some more progress. The Hearse club was invited to a car show so I figured why not get a little done first.

I gave it a bath and blacked out the fender wells.

I cleaned and degreased the trunk. There was salt residue in the right quarter. I think the only reason it didn't rust is the whole trunk was full of spilled oil. I installed a new trunk rubber as well. I still need to add speckle paint and a rubber mat and jack sticker. Anyone knows where to find the right stuff I'm all ears.

My son saw the trophys and wanted to know how to win one one. My reply was "I'm not sure I have never won one before. I guess if they like your car enough". I've gotten participation plaques and stuff but never won anything. He didn't let it go all night after we got one. Been in dozens of shows with the Buicks and the Corvette and they don't get the attention the Plymouth does. The first show with the Plymouth and it is swarmed most of the day. I swear its the color, people gawk and stare at it. I had one guy take at least 30 pictures of it saying he hasn't seen one in 20 years and that the car made his year. Then the next day A guy told me he loves my Edsel.

I have to keep on the gas when idleing in gear, other than that like a brand new car. I still need to check the timing, valve adjustment and the dwell, dropping the fuel tank and cleaning it out are on the list to.

The car also has a new exhaust system from from to back. You can't hear the engine at all when driving.
