Extreme Veteran Posts: 380 Location: Kennewick Wa | Picked up another '57 Dodge last night, It was on Craigslist, about 6 miles from home. It was hard to believe. I thought this place had been picked clean. It was parked in a shed in '91 because of a rod knock. It's a 59,000 mile, never been wrecked, sweety... Under the carpet is still blue paint. Floors are solid as is the trunk. A tiny bit of rust on the lower end of the front fenders. A little surface rust elsewhere. Felt like a kid in a candy store with my own nickel... wow am I that old?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 380 Location: Kennewick Wa | It might take a while to get it running. The engine is in pieces in the trunk and on the gravel behind the car. I'm going to Ohio next week, so it will stay in the shed til we can figure where to put it...

We are looking at the relatively rare "Special" 2-tone motif, here--roof & fins in one color; balance of car in the second color--- RACY looking, no? Dallas doesn't show a view of its interior, but this ride also has the Custom Coronet interior scheme and the Torqueflite trannie. Nicely optioned car....looks good with the Solex glass in it, too. Just noticed its Mod-1 speedometer housing, that 'goes' to 130 MPH. Jim Hoek, if you're looking at this thread, here's a non-D500 that has this 130 MPH speedo. Stewart Warner replaced this speedo with two revisions, with both of them only going to 120 MPH. In the Service Manual there are a couple photos of 'this' speedometer, where the '130' is actually painted onto the speedo's face. AND: since this car has the Custom Coronet interior, it should have color-coordinated (blue-) rubber floor mats, but---"Carpeting" was an available separate option. This car looks like it has (OEM?) blue carpeting in it, so, that may be another option, which would only be confirmed in/on its Broadcast Sheet [ DALLAS: have you looked for it, carefully, up/behind the glove box???] and, on its factory IBM card. If that is OEM carpeting, there, another Broadcast Sheet might be lying underneath the carpeting, waiting to be discovered. Edited by d500neil 2012-06-21 9:35 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 380 Location: Kennewick Wa | Yes, Looking for the sheet was the first thing we did after getting the passenger door unstuck. Even had a friend with smaller hands try but nothing there. The carpet looks original, fits perfect, but there is no pad under it. At least up front, We will be looking at it a lot more when I get back. The engine will be picked up while I'm gone. The needed parts will be obtained from another one we have to (fingers crossed) get the original engine running.

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Looks like it might have factory dual exhausts, too. The standard 325 Poly V/8 on the Coronet (V/8 models) had a 2-bbl carb and single exhaust. Dual exhausts, as a stand-alone option, were available in both the Coronet & the Royal models. Also available was the Power Pack option, which included the 4-bbl carb and dual exhausts. So, your car might have the 2-bbl carb and dual exhausts, or the Power Package option. The Broadcast Sheet and the IBM card will confirm which option your car may have. If there is no (blue-) heel pad, the carpeting is probably not OEM, but, it could be a replacement item, and/or the OEM Custom Coronet blue colored floor mats might still be installed beneath that blue carpeting. Blue rubber floor mats, if intact, would be very valuable, as nobody is re-popping them. Edited by d500neil 2012-06-22 12:18 PM

The blue version is in a Royal (which came standard with the color-coordinated mats) and the green version is in a Custom Coronet model (which included the colored mats as being a part of that trim package option). The standard-model Coros all got black rubber mats. Coincidentally, the Custom Coros having either the gold/black or red/black interiors also got the black floor mats, too). Note the distinctive design features on the two foot wells and on top of the driveline tunnel. Member Posts: 10 Location: Kennewick WA | this car has a 4 barrel carb and intake that looks totally stock so suspect it had the performance package as well, we will look for the build sheet but going to concentrate on the engine and getting this sweet ride back on the road.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Dallas, since you've got the 4-bbl carb, check to see if its brass tag is coded 2532S---you can also check its much smaller date code stamping---something like D 7 would mean the carb was built in April 1957 , etc..
