The 1957 Chrysler 300C was the third production year for the Famous Chrysler "letter cars" and regarded by many to be the pinnacle of the series as well. Touting impressive numbers from the beginning, the 1957 300C broke numerous speed records including the unofficial stock car record at 145.7 MPH and set an average speed of 134 MPH at the Daytona Flying Mile. Additionally the car won both the NASCAR Grand National Stock Car and Women's National Speed Trial Championships that year. All of this was thanks to a combination of excellent power and handling developed by Chryslers engineering team. Powered by a 392 cu-in HEMI sporting dual quad carburetors and a 9.25:1 compression ratio, it put out 375hp and 420 ft/lbs of torque and was backed by the Torqueflight automatic transmission with push button shift. Helping it steer was the revolutionary twin parallel torsion bar front suspension that not only kept the car stable, but allowed for a lower center of gravity as well giving the car great handling for its time without sacrificing the ride comfort expected in a luxury car. All of this contributed to the 300C being named Motor Trends prestigious "Car of the year" for 1957.
With only 1,918 coupes being built, and even less in existence today these cars are becoming increasingly desirable among collectors and enthusiast.
This Particular 300C has benefited from a frame up restoration, sporting Chrysler Regimental Red paint with the standard buckskin leather interior. The paint shines very well and all chrome and trim is in excellent condition with great shine and fitment. The entire underside of the car has been detailed and painted as well, showing just as well as the top. Finishing off the exterior is a set of Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels wrapped in wide white wall radials to complement the existing bright work and elevate the entire look of the car.
The interior is in good shape with all leather and seat covers showing no rips cracks or tears, and working power seats. Additionally the car features 4 power windows, AM Radio, excellent carpet and headliner, and rear window defogger. All gauges and lights work, the only thing that does not is the radio.
Mechanically the car is in excellent shape, having just received adjustment on the pushbutton linkage system to ensure everything is working properly. The transmission shifts smoothly and the engine runs very strong with plenty of power. In the engine bay, the car is very correct with original equipment like hose clamps, fluid bags and even stickers that would be factory standard for 1957.
Overall this is a truly stunning and unique car that is quickly becoming a favorite amongst collectors and enthusiasts. If you're looking for a truly exceptional driver with show potential then this is the right car for you.
