I need a valve job. My readings are 55-63.The rings seem good. Do i have to pull off the water manifold to remove the heads? Should i remove the exhaust manifolds at the ext. pipes or at the heads? How heavy are the heads alone? Does any one know of a shop out west that will boil out my fuel tank? If not i need info on the best way to etch and clean the tank, I don't want to seal it as it doesn't leak and the car still runs and drives. Thanks a lot, Bill 928 855 7340 in AZ.

Bill,.,careful here I assume you did a compression test, this is not a good way to determine what is wrong, you should do a leak down test, that will allow you to hear compression being lost either in the intake or exhaust, if none there, than it is blowby past the rings, otherwise a valve job could be wasted here..

You also shouldn't seal it because it will clog the permanent built in pickup filter.

A radiator shop should be able to boil out your gas tank.
