Can someone clarify what these letters on a 61 fender tag are in reference to......?

Thanks,

Will.

Will; when you get your car's IBM card copy, that "1" may be confirmed by process of elimination, as far as your car's
options and accessories are concerned.

The PLY codings are unique to them; no direct correlation to the other marques' P/T's information.

I really think that no one really knows what all the letters stand for. I have heard it called a designator.

This is what I have for 1960

N Heater/Defroster/AC
P Accessory Groups
Q Convertible top
T Radio
V Glass
Y Undercoating
Z Transmission

Note that these letters have been repeatedly proved but not confirmed

I believe the "1" on the top line refers to the top color. But thats not a concern.

So..... Are you saying no one knows what the "A" thru "Z" letters represent on a 1961 Plymouth code tag.....?
Some are self explaning..... "H"=heater, "B"=engine, "S"=steering...etc. Just seems like there would be a reference chart avaliable somewhere. Perhaps not.

It's not a big deal. I just like to accumulate as much info as I can on my cars. It's part of the fun of ownership. I'll get the data card sometime.

Typicaly (universally, AFAIK), black tops are coded "1", and white tops are "2".
There may be some difference between the other marques, but green tops are "3" and blue tops are "5".

You go get your car's IBM build card, and most-all shall be revealed....

I have to get used to the fact that although the forward look fender tags look simillar to the 62 and later, they are completely different and a lot mor challenging to decypher.

I was not sure if colored convertible tops aside from white & black were offered. I'm planning to replace my top with a green one as well as a two tone white (bottom) & green. All else will be as manufactured. A right mirror and rear dual antenna's might be added if located.

Code 331 is a black top and 332 is white. No other color cv tops were offered on 1961 Plymouth.
