Expert Posts: 1730 Location: Michigan | Heh, I didn't even pay attention to that stuff. I was looking at the body lines, the tasteful way the engine was color coordinated to the body and how he stayed true to the interior theme, including a pretty much original dash! Even kinda sounded original.

Expert Posts: 2524 Location: Houston | Truthfully, that "twin turbo NASCAR engine" is 110% wrong for that car. It would make the car all but useless.

Agreed, if he wanted it "supercharged" he should have installed a supercharger, turbos are 80's junk and I look forward to the day they are extinct! Gary

I'm not going to post any pictures because most of these are shebby's, but with monster turbo's they haul ass. And they're street driven. Running 6.90's and driving to the next venue says a lot. But they ain't cheap either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2eJWSxNzMD4

Expert Posts: 2524 Location: Houston | There are two kinds of people in this world - those who think a twin turbo NASCAR engine will perform well on the street, and those who have actually lived with such an engine. I call them magazine engines - they look great in print and post big numbers that give erections to readers - but in practicality they are all but useless.

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | Looks like another example of someone trying to fix something that wasen't broken. The 56 300 styling just can't be improved on. And this guy missed the boat..... The detail and engineering are wonderful.... just don't work on this car. I'm not impressed.

Member Posts: 41 | hehe, it isn't even a real 300b. It's just a clown.... Good work, but bad taste in cars. Never seen a single Troy Design, I liked.... Big Wheels, with little tires might be cool in the Ghetto, but I'm just an old school Redneck who likes his tires fat, but women skinny. I'm goin' to customize my 300b also. But what could I do? Right a very little lower maybe. So little that it looks better, but u won't notice that it is. Second some cool old wheels. 15''. Maybe old Halibrand's in 16, but I have to check. Maybe just widened steelies for that Kiekhafer Nascar look. I will try some stuff. Otherwise it will stay as is. For me one of the best looking cars ever.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8445 Location: Perth Australia | OK Thought turbos were best kept right up close to the exhaust ports to work properly Really an exceptional job on this car I guess if it was ever sold, it would not be sold as a 300B but more as a custom construction? Not really sure if it would be called a resto mod as I dont think it would be possible to ever get it back to original (if you wanted to).

Expert Posts: 1886 | That car is amazing. Don't like the choice of wheels, but the craftsmanship is unreal. I'd love to see progress pictures of how it was done. Truly amazing. Anyone that thinks twin turbo motors aren't civil, I've had two twin turbo cars, both making north of 1500hp, got 18mpg, ran on pump gas and would run 8's all day in the 1/4 mile. All while passing NC inspection. Turbo cars done right can be incredibly civil and powerful.

Location: Parts Unknown | Being an old-tech enthusiast, I can appreciate the work, but am lost on the mission. You have a boatload of money and skill poured into something that isn't half as cool as the original. What's the point ? Of course, I'm the guy that will never understand hotrods and customs like this ... just ain't my bag. Hate the wheels. Hate the cutesy color-matched underhood. And double-extra hate the engine shrouding.

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | I agree, turbo chargers offer mega horsepower capibilities that are very easy to live with. One can excede 1000 HP in a car that your wife can drive to the mall. Hey Mike, Do you still have the 56 Desoto wagon you picked up in Denver NC.....?

Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | You got the Desoto wagon from me. I ran up on it at the Chryslers at Carlisle show and bought it on an impluse. Was intreaged with the A/C on it. You had some interesting ideas about a restro/mod on the car. I hope it's still alive and kicking somewhere.
