Location: The Mile High City | Way to go, Paul! That's really neat. I have been following Raffa's restoration and this discussion point in particular. I hope this helps the 1957 De Soto restorers out there. |

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | And these were not on Firesweep, right? Someone probably covered this, but what is the purpose of this thing? To make the paint look cleaner? |

Location: Upper East Tennessee | I'm thinking the factory found it easier (probably cheaper) to paint the entire fender and use this insert for whatever color sweep option was ordered. I'm just going to paint the color sweep onto my fender.

Location: Louisiana | I have similar inserts for the front fenders of my '58 Firedome. I've debated whether or not to repaint and reinstall them. Do the trim spears look okay without them? I'd just as soon eliminate another place for water to collect. |

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | My Firesweep doesn't have them. But who knows, it's been repainted at least once. I wonder how odd it would look if the sweep was filled with Sportone insert stuff. Not that I feel like trying that. |
