Neil, here is the P/T plate as requested. I tried to take a clear photo of it, but my camera just would not cooperate. On the bottom row, starting from left to right, it is B 1008 15003 2285 4MLM 214. You'll notice a screw is missing. I tried to remove the plate for a better photo, the left screw came right off but the right side screw didn't want to loosen, and when I went to put the left one back in, it fell down between the cowl and inner fender.

Thank you...

Now, is its Broadcast Sheet still 'there'???

Anyway, this Detroit built car WAS apparently an early build-car---it should have those stainless steel short, fluted-topped
top-of-fender 'crowns on it...10/8/56 Scheduled build date.

Altho the Broadcast Sheet/IBM card will confirm all of its goodies, this car is coded as having been delivered by Truck to its dealership, and
it had the plain hubcaps (no spinners), stone shields, and the 2-tone steering wheel.

It also has all Solex tinted glass, but not a shaded windshield, and the pushbutton radio, back-up lights, left O.S. mirror,
Day/nite mirror, and the heater/defroster, and the TorqueFlite trannie.

It's coded for having the GOLD/BLACK interior (214), but not the "blue" interior (215)!!!

The PNT code of 4MLM is the Turquoise/White scheme, and the only interior scheme that is listed for/with that combination
is the gold/black scheme!

Your car's (present-) interior is the blue scheme, so, either there was a factory coding-or-intentional mistake with its having
the 'blue' interior, or, the owner and/or the dealership or a body shop decided to change the interior color(s) to 2-tone
blue.

IIRC, your car's dash is also blue, so, its interior was almost certainly 'delivered' in the blue motif.

The color difference may well be related to the car's early-build...or maybe, it was an assembly-line worker's car, and he
arranged to have it be built with the blue interior...?

Wow.

Matt, JFG--just for grins--remove the remaining screw and see what the primer looks like, underneath the
P/T plate...

I have a full set of the stainless pieces that I got on Ebay.  They are not correct for my late-build car, but my pot metal pieces were all missing/destroyed.  So I have one stainless fender crown on my car.  I have the other, but it was damaged (when removed?)  It's stanless, so it should be repairable, but it is beyond my abilities, so it is not on the car right now.

I notice that 58 300D's Dodge has one of the stainless crowns and the other is missing.  So I have one good piece (and one bad) and 58 300D has one piece...of these extremely rare pieces.

SO, 58 300D, if you want to sell yours, let me know.  THey are not correct for my car, but I like them better than the pot-metal pieces, so I wouldn't mind having the set on my car.  OR if you want mine and have access to some decent pot metal pieces, that would be good for me, too.  I'm just looking for a way to end up with a good set of one or the other.  But one way or another, it seems like it would make sense to combine ours to make one good set that would be on one of our cars.

Your basic dope-deal....

Those stainless steel 'crowns ARE rare pieces; dunno when 'The Change' occurred, but it was early in the 57 m.y. .
