My 55 Plymouth column does not cancel the turn signal when I make a turn. I know where a 54 Plymouth is in a local junk yard
and wondered if the insides of the column that control the cancellation are the same for 53-54 Plymouths as they are for my 55.
Thanks ahead of time for the help,
John

There is a cancellation ring that presses up on the underside of the hub of the steering wheel. It has two protusions, one to cancel left and one to cancel right. I have seen more than one 55-56 where the ring was missing entirely.

John I just was working on mine as it was doing the same thing. Do you have all the internals there under the steering wheel? Likely you need to play with the mechanism to get it working again. Some things I just did.
1) the mechanism works off of a fixed bar with detents, C shaped plate and a spring. The bar needed to be straightened out some to bring the plate and spring closer to the steering wheel.
2) I bent those pins pictured above on the back of the steering wheel out a little to ensure they made contact with the C shaped plate.
3) I added a little lithium grease in there to keep it all slippery.
4) I tightened up the spring a little so it would apply more outward pressure to the C shaped plate. This makes for a good pop out of the turn when the wheel hits it.
