I've seen photos showing the horn ring (the big cross) in colors as well as white. I've seen blue and red and white. The brochure for 60 shows a sparkle wheel with blue to match the solid part of the wheel. What was the deal with the color? Did the sparkle wheels get a color center and the regular wheels get white or ???

My Matador wagon has a green non sparkle wheel and my Pioneer parts car has a blue non sparkle wheel. So I think it might be safe to say that the non sparkle wheels came in a variety of colors too, based on these two cars.

I've been trying to figure this out for years myself. My ex-Polara ( Canadian built) had the sparkle wheel and the horn bar was painted a metallic brownish color, the interior was red and black. On my Matador, also had a sparkle wheel, the horn ring was painted a light grey, almost white, the interior was grey.

I need to clarify that both the wheel and horn center section are green on the Matador and blue on the Pioneer.

This particular interior is another Canadian Polara with red interior showing the brown painted horn bar, identical to the interior of my ex-Polara.

I can't be certain my car still has the original wheel but the horn ring on it is white and the car has the gray/silver interior. The steering wheel, non-sparkle, is gray. I'm thinking maybe on the gray interiors they just used the white because gray in the horn ring would just sort of blend into the chrome and there'd be no contrast at all.

So it looks to me like the standard steering wheel in in60 Matadors (Polaras all came with the glitter wheel) had a horn bar painted to match the interior.

What I did find interesting is that all the photos I have of Canadian built 1960 Polaras have the horn bar painted a brownish color, though each Canuck Polara I have photos of are red, white or black cars, with a red or red and black interior.

This thread got me curious

My dodge had/has a white centre which I didnt think twice about, but I have 4 more horn button things as well

I believe all the dodges built here were phoenixes with the sparkle wheel.

All 5 of the buttons I have are white centres, my thought is that the dash being a R/H/D 60 plymouth dash was originally grey (at least on mine) and the car colour was black with a red interior, so I guess the centres (for the grey dash) were all white?

I have a sparkle wheel (grey spokes) with white centre horn button on my non power steering wagon. Interior is white and grey. I'll try and upload a picture when I can.
