You need to put tension on the lock towards the way it rotates to unlock, at the same time as you rake the tumblers back and forth with a pick.

I need to know which key opens the glove box lock >> for a 54 dodge royal >>> Is it the ignition /door key , trunk or a separate key all by itself ? I have a whole bunch of keys to try . I need to know which key opens the glove box lock >> for a 54 dodge royal >>> Is it the ignition /door key , trunk or a separate key all by itself ? I have a whole bunch of keys to try . Thanks Normally it would be the trunk key that opens the Glove box. Doors should be keyed the same as the ignition lock. If you have a bunch of keys that will go in the glove box lock, rake them back and forth while maintaining slight turning pressure to the unlock position. Sometimes you can open them that way with the incorrect key if you are lucky, the raking may line up the tumblers in the right spot as you hold the pressure and if so it will open.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1018 Location: Milwaukee Wisconsin | Thanks Ian .. I will try that .. I did have a couple keys that did slide into the lock cyl. If that does not work .. I will cut a key down as a bump key.. There may be hope still. Edited by dodge59 2013-12-01 7:50 PM

I guess you've been looking at YouTube videos on lock picking and bump keys .....your glove compartment lock is a "wafer" locks, not a pin tumbler lock, and wafer locks don't really respond to "bumping" like pin tumbler locks.
