I want to start a thread to see how many members on here are under 30 years of age. Let's start with me. My name is Christian Blake Morgan. Most people call me CB. I am 22 years old. I currently own a 1961 Dodge Polara which is now my daily driver.

Austin Swanger here. I'm 23. Joined this forum back in 2006 at 16. Got my first car...my 57 Plymouth in April of 06.

Have owned quite a few cars over the years but my current list of Forward Looks are in my signature. All my cars are drivers...rain or shine...winter or summer.

I am a former teenage FL driver and give kudos to anyone these days who sees past the
cultural propaganda to know these cars are worth fighting for. It was a real b!tch to do it in
the 70's-80's and you have a different struggle to work against today. Still, it is not the easy
route to be "different", and these things certainly ARE different !

Good job, young guys! We definitely need someone to carry the torch.

I'm not as old as most (36) but I'm glad to see some folks here younger than me - and with a bunch of FL cars too!

I got my '57 Suburban 2dr when I was 27, and the '57 NYer coupe when I was 31.

My name is David Frank and I am 21, almost 22 years old. My first (and only to date) Forward Look vehicle is a 1956 De Soto Fireflite Sportsman 2 door hardtop that was rescued out of a junkyard in around 1966.

I started buying the car when I was a mere 12 years old back in '04. My dad had purchased it in '02 from a guy in Indiana who had started a restoration (which included a partial rebuild of a Firedome engine, reupholstering of the seats and door panels, rechromed bumpers/bumper guards, and some body/paint work). I have traced the ownership back to the mid to late '60's when it was in an Oklahoma junkyard, presumably due to engine damage. We ended up having the original Fireflite engine rebuilt by George Riehl of the 300 club and he said that he hadn't seen a crankshaft bent that bad in a long time, meaning someone was beating on the car pretty good. Had the damage been any worse, the block would've cracked. A gentleman in the extreme southern portion of Kansas made regular trips to the yard and rescued vehicles, this being one of them. We figure it probably was in there for a year or less. He then stashed it with his other vehicles in a building until the late 70's when the building collapsed due to snow. A few vehicles were unfortunately totaled. The De Soto received a dent to the top of the fender and hood and a crushed roof. When the owner prior to my dad bought it, he replaced the roof and found another fender and hood. The car is 99% rust free and the the majority of the shell is sitting in it's original state, dented fender and all. The picture will show what has been repainted, which I will be redoing when the front is done.

The car is originally white/yellow with a black/white cloth/leather interior and virtually no options beyond the standard equipment. It has p.s. and p.b. (both standard on the Fireflite) and manual seats, manual windows, no clock, and standard radio with fender-mounted antenna. It is supposed to have a second exterior mirror according to the options list, but there is no evidence of the car ever having one. Unlike what most people do, I will be leaving it with its lack of options when I restore it.

Currently, I am going to school for mechanical engineering at a private school, which means the shell of the car is sitting at the back of the garage waiting until I have the money for body/paint work. In the meantime, I am working on finishing up the engine, which has been rebuilt since '04, but never assembled and run. With the engine and the car, I am taking my time and making sure I do everything the right way. I want to do this once and I want the main restoration to last. I am extremely knowledgeable about 1956 De Sotos, including firewall tag decoding, and I will make sure my car is correct in every manner. The only main modification that I'll make is to put glasspacks on since they sound nice on the older hemis.

If anyone by an odd coincidence knows anything about this car's history, please let me know. I am particularly interested in the first 10 or so years as I could only trace it back to the Oklahoma junkyard in the mid-sixties.

As a side note to anyone with a 1956 De Soto, the engine colors should be correct (pulleys, trans cooler, etc.) as I verified my research with a factory photo.

Just gotta add that I've met Fireflite56 aka David Frank at the NDC Convention, and I just have to say that he's the type of young person who really gives us hope for the future of the old car hobby, and for the future itself, for that matter! Super great young man, and very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable when it comes to anything involving old cars.

We have great young people at this site.

Hello... Adriana here and I am now 24... I purchased my 1961 Plymouth Suburban when I was 19 and imported it to Australia... I now also have an all original 1959 Pontiac Starchief Sedan which I imported two years ago... Love old cars and the time in which they are from... I think a 1959 Oldsmobile will be next

I'm one of the Olde Fartes here, but fell in love with FLs visiting the local Chrysler-Plymouth dealership with Dad in Nov 1957. Later that same month HIS Dad bought a '57 Dodge CRL 4 dr Hardtop and that sealed the deal for me for life. Got a black '59 NYer sedan with 38k, prev owned by a retired nurse, in my senior year, age 18, in '68, after my '63 F..d wagon was totaled (don't ask). That makes me, Neil and Chuck all the same age.

Really encouraging to see the young blood in this group getting into these cars, gives one great hope for the hobby.

Well I'm a little late seeing this thread, but thought that I would add my two cents worth (even though we don't have pennies in Canada any more). I always was a mopar guy until I had a Diplomat, not sure of the year, you would think I would remember considering the amount of grief it gave me. After that I swore off them until last year-March 2013. Then I took a notion that I wanted one & bought a 55 Dodge Royal. The love affair has been rekindled, & I am just itching for when I can get her out of storage & making some upgrades. I will be 66 in September. I think it's pretty special to own a 55 Royal(Hemi included) in this part of the country. They are pretty rare birds.-Garry-

He also has a '72 Avanti II.

My brother has a '61 Hawk and another brother has a '63 Avanti.
The brother with the Hawk also had a '55 Dodge Coronet and he's been hunting for an Avanti II with the rarer 327 or 305 or 400.
He doesn't want to be "one of those guys" with a 350 because he says "everybody" has a 350.

darn, missed the cut. Didn't own my first Forward Look car until I was 35 years old. Currently 38 and own 2. My first car was a 1966 VW Squarback that I bought when I was 14 and drove through high school. And in my early 20's I owned a 1964 Comet Villager Wagon.

I wanted to own a Forward look when I was 16 but my dad "did me a favor, it's got too many miles" and sold his 60 matador without telling me. Had to wait till I was 63 before I finally got one.

Since Christian wants to see how many people on here is under 30, and so many on this thread seems to be so, I guess I will join this group too.

I got my first car, a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk with the 352 cid Packard engine in it when I was 16. Cost me a lot, like 50 bucks. At that time I was working on a Norwegian ship sailing only up and down the west coast of the U.S and Canada in the papertrade. Got my first driverslicence for an automobile in Campbell River, B.C., Canada also at the age of 16. Don't tell anybody but before that, since I was 15, I had been driving all over California and B.C. Canada without any driver's licence at all.

Then, 2 years later, in 1965 I immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 18. Approx. 2 weeks before I signed off the ship to settle in Long Beach, Ca., I had been running around on the used car lots in Long Beach to find a car that I could use when setteling. I found a slightly customized (in Hollywood the dealer said)1957 Dodge Coronet Convertible with some bad paint and a bad top. So I told the dealer to get it painted and put a new top on it till when I got back in approx. 2 weeks. When I did, the car sat there at the lot waiting for me with shiny nev gold methallic paint and a blck new top. Total price for car, paint and new top: U.S. $ 300,oo. And the interior and the engine was in good shape. This car turned heads even when cruising on Sunset Strip and Hollywood Bouleward. It's a lot more to it, but since I allways write to long posts anyway..............Sure wish I still had that car today.

A few weeks later I also boughta 1959 Plymouth Sports Fury with the 361 cid Golden Commando engine. 54 K miles on the odometer and the name of the person ordering it still on that special little Dash Plaque. Fastest accelerating car I ever had. Shifted down from 3rd to 2nd (Torque Flite) at 85 mph on the highway and spun it's wheels. Blew the cr*p out of a brand new Pontiac GTO racing from trafficlight to trafficlight back then. This car was so nice, and so totally original. It's a lot more to it, but since I.......... Sure wish I still had that car today

Then next year, at the age of 19, I bought the ultimate dreamcar (to me), a 1957 DeSoto Golden Adventurer with the 345 HEMI and 2X4 bbl carb setup. From the lady at the bar across from the gas-station I was working extra in the evenings after finishing my daytime job as a captain on a divingcompany's tugboat. Price of Adventurer: 76 dollars and 40 cents. For the bill she owed to the gas-station for services on the car. Well, its a lot more to it, but since I .......... Sure wish I still had that car today

Then, unfortunately, I had to return back to Norway at the end of December 1966 because I did not want to go to Vi-Et-Nam fighting and therefore just leave the cars with a "friend" that i never heard from again.

So, in summer of 1972, as a 25 years old, I came by a 1960 DeSoto Adventurer 2 door hard-top sitting on a gas-station just outside my hometown. The only '60 Adventurer in the whole of Norway at that time. After a little dikkering, mine for my restored '60 Simca Chambord in trade plus NOK 10 grand. It's a lot more to it, but since I............I still have that car today The brown one pictured elsewhere on here.

In 1975, as a 28 years old, I bought a 1957 Chrysler Saratoga 4 door sedan with the 354 cid Poly engine. I belive also pictured on here. Once upon a time the car of the former Prime Minister of Norway, Eiar Gerhardtsen. It's a lot more to it, but since I............ I still have that car today

And the story goes on and on........... until some 50 Chrysler Corporation cars today

old fart

I am 25 and a huge FL lover. To tell you the truth, Christine got me into it. First car was of course a 58 belvedere coupe, current car is just like the previous but a ragtop:)
