Hello
I bought and paid in full for a 1968 440ci which is supposed to be rebuilt .
Engine should have been shipped to me by now from SOLEDAD PERFORMANCE, Chris Kane, at 7636 lemon av, Lemon grove, CA 91945 ( Close to San Diego) Phone 619 697 1136... email :1moparchris@sbcglobal.net
Engine was supposed to be delivered by july 29th
The seller doesn't answer his phone or emails, and I have called each day and sent numerous emails..
Is there any member leaving close to San Diego able to check this place, and to know what's going on with my engine ?
I am in Hellertown, PA 18055

I still have not received any answer from any Forward look member.
The engine I bought has been paid in full including shipping june 29th, anybody leaving close to San Diego to check this place ?
I got the seller on the phone 858 414 6972 who hang-up on me today, still no email answer too, look like I have been scammed...

I did find one review and it does not look good 
"Dont trust this Guy! His claim of what a rebuilt motor is a joke. Motor was a wrecking yard piece dressed up and painted pretty. Wasnt till we pulled it apart to put better heads on that we found out. Evarything claimed was a lie! Be fore warned to check everything he claims!"
I would post your problem with him, on his web-site.
Sorry to hear your difficulty with them!
Hopefully you paid with a credit car or better yet PayPal as you may be able to get your money back, and He will get slammed by PayPal if He uses that for other payments.
We know , It's after the fact, but many of us know where you can get an engine rebuilt right, so don't be afraid to ask.
Hopefully the 60 or so ppl that have read this thread, are taking NOTE!!!!

I had seen his add on Ebay which had ended, he had 100% positive feedback, but I did purchase the engine out of Ebay, direct from him..
Here is the add
"Up for grabs is very nice ultra rare 1968 D 440 HP Plymouth Dodge complete engine. If you have a 1968 Plymouth GTX, Dodge Charger, Coronet or Super Bee, This is what you need ! Just in time for your spring / summer project. Where else can you find an engine this COMPLETE !!! This is a FORGED STEEL CRANK engine. It's complete from Carb. to pan. Built with only the finest parts. Upgraded forged Keith Black pistons .030 over, with speed pro moly rings. ( I NEVER bore a big block Chrysler more than .040 over, for street use. They tend to run HOT.) The crankshaft is drilled for a manual transmission and a NEW pilot bushing is installed, for you 4 speed people. The rods were resized and fitted with ARP rod bolts. The complete rotating assembly is balanced. A New Hydraulic cam and lifters with double roller timing chain and gears are also installed. A complete 3 angle valve job ( with all NEW valves ) and hard seats for unleaded gas is given to the stock castings. These engines are fully tested for oil pressure, vacume, engine temp, and cam brake in. They are run for 30 minutes and allowed to cool , run an additional 30 minutes, to check oil pressure and possibile leaks. When the engine leaves here, it is ready to drop into your car. It will include the upper and lower pullies as well as a NEW fuel pump with all factory fuel lines and filter , aluminum High Volume water pump, with the correct alternator brackets and new alternator. I also use a NEW Melling High Volume oil pump as well. You also get NEW plugs and wires along with a new factory coil. Everything you need to plug and play. The engine will also include a NEW Edelbrock 4 bbl. carb, or Holley 750 CFM,-3310 if you choose. The air cleaner pictured will not be included with the engine. The HP exhaust manifolds are not included. A lifting plate will be bolted to the intake manifold for easy removal from the shipping crate. The carb. will boxed inside the crate and ready to bolt on when the engine is installed in your car. If you have a need for a 727 Torqueflite transmission to go with the engine, we offer the trans. with a fresh Hemi torque converter for an additional 650 dollars and FREE delivery. Unfortunately, they probably already know about Mr. Kane, and his business practices.
At the least, you should be able to find out the extent to which you may ever be able to obtain any
financial satisfaction from him, from the D.A.'s office file information on him.

Location: central Illinois | Sorry to hear about this Gilles. Neil has good advice there. I'd make a request to your bank to see if they would be able to send the actual, cancelled check to you. Most banks these days don't keep anything but a photo-copy but you never know till you ask.
I'm wondering why he wants an extra $170 for pay pal. There's no way the fees would approach that amount.

I already have a copy from my check, I went to my local police today to make complaint, but they told me they can't do anything for soemone in California, I did put a complaint with the PA Attorney general.. and also the Sna Diego Businees bureau..
San Diego Business bureau already answered telling me that they are going to send him a letter..
I don't know who contacted him, but as of now, I just got suddenly an email telling me that engine had been shipped today with a carrier and tracking numbers..
Engine supposed to be delivered the 23th
Now I am scared that this engine is not going to be as advertised in the add...

Location: bishop, ca | UN-fortunately, you are going to have to disassemble that engine the 'minute' that you receive it, and will need
to have competent witnesses present when it is opened up (a videographer is recommended) in order to
document whatever you find installed inside that engine....in order to prove (possibly-) defective manufacture
or assembly of it.

Escondido is close to San Diego, I'm surprised that buyer did't "Punch Out that sellers headlights" 
Strange that the seller has an Ebay rating of 100% positive, Both buyers should post on Ebay and get this guys
"Real Info" up to date.
I also suspect PayPal is not gonna be "Enamoured" with his $170 PayPal Surcharge!
Keep ups posted on the engine condition, It was a great price, unfortunately when something seems
"Too good to be true", It usually is!

| Was this ever resolved? I spoke with the owner this morning. I am about 4 miles from the shop. He was helpful so far so I have nothing negative to report. But my first dealing with him was in 07. I had a shop literally blocks from him and he came in one day after hearing there was now a header guy in Lemon Grove. We chatted a bit and a month later he called me and told me he had some work for me but that never materialized. Which was fine because %90 of the people I talk to about doing work for them, never actually put cash in my hand say get going on it. But in our conversation, I told him I was looking for a 413... He told me he had 2 and would build one for me for $3500 with a $1000 down. Personally, I don't trust most machine shops. Have had nightmares with a few here in SD. But this guy isn't even a machine shop. Why would I pay him to build a motor for me? Or any one for that matter... |

But this seller was very difficult to get a hold after engine was paid in full, wouldn't answer phone or emails.... so I began to worry and even had filed a report with Better Business bureau, and the Police... |

| hey rivierase , congrats that you finally got your engine for that you had paid full. After so many difficulties finally you have got your engine. thanks for sharing your story and experience with the seller.

I told them what I did, but it look like it didn't pay off for everybody.... watch out for this shop who post some adds on Ebay, craiglist about rebuilt engine... |

| Chris Kane, whose real name is William C. Kane is a con artist who rips people off as a way of making a living. If you can't find him at his office in Lemon Grove, you may be able to find him at his home address in San Diego. His address is: 5074 Mount Durban Drive, San Diego, CA 92117. Chris has been committing fraud for 20+ years. My sincere sympathy for anyone who has paid Chris Kane money for anything or been involved in any sort of transaction with this low life. the local police . in return they contacted the supplier . within 4 days i had my full refund . what the seller did , was to take my order , without having the part in stock ----------------------------later |
