I just picked up a rear axle from either a '65 or '66 Dodge Polara/Monaco to dump my old tapered axle. I'd like to just replace the drums rather than deal with turning them since they look kind of thin anyway. No parts stores show a rear drum for '65/66, but all have the fronts. Summit racing shows the same drum to be for both front and rear. Parts stores do start showing availability for '69 Polara rear drums.

Are the drums interchangeable from front to rear, and what is the difference in '69, that they would show as available?

Thanks!

There are several diameter/width drums, '65-'70 rear drums will interchange as long as the diameter/width matches the backing plate.

Rock Auto shows rear drums available in all the common sizes.

As time goes by more and more parts stores are showing erroneous interchange info thanks to computers replacing books.

I have both the REAR Brake Drums that the "C" Body cars used back then....
The far more common drum is 11" x 2 1/2" and those I do @ 69.00 each.

The very tough to find drum is the 11" x 2" REAR Brake Drums and I have them also...
they are much more expensive.....

I do have wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and all the brake hardware for both set ups...
