Hi all,

I converted my idler arm on my 60 Fireflite from a OEM rubber bushing to the grease-able ball bearing kind via the conversion kit. It was pretty straight forward and easy to do. Just wondering how these "converted" idler arms hold up over time?

Thanks!

Thank you 1960fury,

I was wondering about the bearings not being sealed and they are not very heavy duty. I would think a good shock to the the settring linkage could damage the bearings too. Just gonna keep an eye on it and when it gets slooppy put a rubber bushing back in it.

A few months back I bought and installed an old NOS kit made by Atlas (the manufacturer of front end parts), which has to date back to the '60's. So far so good...

I installed the bearing kit in my '60 Desoto in 1973..still holding up OK ...gets grease every oil change along with the rest of the front end. My '58 has one too

The same assembly was used for several years. The Clerk at NAPA understands 1961 Newport.

the stock idler ball bearings in my 61 desoto were broken to pieces. they are very fragile. the idler/pitman arms are iirc the lowest point under the car, if you hit something, they break easily.
