OK, spent the day getting the rim off, had to cut a few studs off and finally did got it off, 5 new studs, for the axle flange, a trip to get new lug nuts at Summit, this time the lugs were torqued with torque wrench, time to drive it around the block a few times and bring her back to check the lugs again, NOPE, blow a freeze plug out and have to have it rollbacked to the house, luckily i had a few beers and after a while when my bladder was full, i let her know how i felt, right in the grill, cue Sonny and Cher.................. So we just need to call you "Stud-ly"

Location: atlanta | Went to talk to the machine shop guy that did the work on the engine, told him about the freeze plug, he said they were installed correctly, i told him about the two gals of anti-freeze and the 70 buck rollback bill, he's says he can't do anything about that, he gives me a freeze plug, i asked him what if another freeze plug blows out, he says, come back and i give ya another one, i'm not happy.
I get a neoprene freeze plug and install it, seals it good, well the brakes were feeling spongy, found a leaking wheel cylinder at the rear, replaced it and bled the brakes, much better, take it down the road, SOB, another freeze plug blows out, what the hell!!!! |

Location: So. Cal | Sounds like you might need to replace them all. I hear that the hotheads plugs work well.

Location: Minor Hill, TN | The plugs might be bad , I got a set of dorman copper freeze plugs for $16.99 a set, it comes with more than you need , Auto zone can get these for you. I hope this helps some. |

Location: North Australia | Roger, you is one funny Dude. Like any relationship, there are ups and downs
That old car has spirit though (evil?), and obviously you have too. Keep at it, you are close to taming it now I think.
Those convex plugs are problematic, I had dramas too with my 413 head plugs which were installed by an engine builder. I put the block plugs in and they are good (I am not an auto mechanic but fitter and turner).
Below links to some reading on the subject.
Hope this helps.
Steve.
