darn I knew this would happen once I bought my others . But after having a better look it was not this colour originally . But note it does have the rear accessory bumper guards , Fin Antennas and roof moulding package .
Looks very Appealing . Arne you can have this one , I cant go through buying another car at this time !

The ad says the under car and pans look good. I find that very, very hard to believe based on how the quarters and rockers look.

Yes me too , it looks an gnarly around the headlamps also . But I also feel if you are able to at least find a 58 Desoto you must expect to do everything !

Rough, but sexy. Looks to be a former seafoam sweetie.

This somewhat no-frills on the inside Firedome was equipped with all the goodies on the exterior: bumper guards, fender birds, and dual antennae! Somewhere along the way, the outside mirrors and front bumper guards were nixed.

I didn't even take notice of the fender ornaments , it really is the car I would have liked short of a fireflite coupe . It does look appealing though doesn't it !

I can see why there are more pictures of the right side. The drivers side is pretty rough. To get a running complete 2 door in that shape it is currently in the right starting price IMO.

If you can love it as is, it is probably a pretty good deal.
Just look at that second image of the lower rear quarter as viewed behind the tire!
The lower part of this body was competely consumed by rust.

I agree with Greg. I can't believe that the pans and frame were not also affected.

Hmmm. All the mirrors disappeared! If this car were black, I would say a vampire owned it.

Since the car is "pink", a lady vampire perhaps?

Here is the cowl tag. The floors are okay, to a point. There is a couple rust holes, but the floors are mostly solid.
I think the oil coming off the engine all those years saved the floors, for the most part. The first six inches of the bottom
outside body panels are all bondo. Even over the rear wheel wells.
The great thing about this car is that it starts up with no problem. I was sitting in the passenger seat and the owner told
me to reach over and turn the key. It started right up. Sounds good. He told me that the front end was rebuilt. The brakes
have been gone through, and the master cylinder has been replaced. Mechanically the car is good. If you are a good body man,
then this car is for you.

As Mike notes, the car was originally Pearl White top/Seafoam Aqua body/Pearl White Sweep (XHX)

Should we tell Rosy that the car has the extra ash tray on the dash?

No way! She will just part this whole thing out to get that one lil' ashtray.

Someone please educate me: it was my impression that the 1957 De Sotos had the second dashboard ash tray as an optional item.
I also had the impression that the 1958 De Sotos had the second ash tray standard. Is that correct?

You guys!

I've looked up ashtray info before in the "Ross Roy Data Book", and it's a bit confusing because they don't really differentiate between the driver's side and passenger side ashtrays as such.

However, it would seem that the extra, passenger side ashtray was an option for the 1957 Firedome and the Firesweep, and standard for the Fireflite. (Not sure about the Adventurer, but my guess would be optional.) There might also be some additional differences among the 'wagon, 'vert, and 4-door models? I can look those up, if anyone needs that info.

Not sure about the '58's; I've seen them with the passenger side ashtray, and I've seen them without, so maybe the info above also applies to the '58's as well. But who knows what gets added or goes missing as the years go by?

BTW - a very kind FL member is willing to sell me his donor car's right hand ashtray, so I guess I'll spare this pink Firedome!

Passenger ashtray was optional in 57 and 58.

You're correct, Sir!

I was just adding to the green/pink kidding around/confusion.

It seems from the cowl tag this car was originally "Seacoast Aqua" & "Pearl White"?
